Lufthansa Miles & More is the latest Rove Miles transfer partner

3

Rove Miles, the booking platform that allows for earning transferable points for hotel and flight bookings, has added a surprising new transfer partner: Lufthansa Miles & More. That’s a big get for Rove Miles since Lufthansa Miles & More has not partnered with any US programs for several years (they used to partner with Marriott, but that ended a few years ago). While taxes & fees are high when booking through Miles & More, their “Mileage Bargains” are well known to be solid deals.

The Lufthansa business class seat configuration works great for family travel.

Quick Thoughts

This is a huge ad for the Rove miles program, as Lufthansa miles and more can be highly useful, but hasn’t really been available to US-based customers for years. There is indeed a Barclays Miles and More credit card, but aside from the intro bonus, it has been difficult to earn a meaningful number of Lufthansa Miles and More miles.

In late 2023, we saw a huge bonus from Booking.com that offered the opportunity to earn a ton of Lufthansa miles through hotel bookings, and that promotion was very popular among those who are familiar with the best uses of Miles and More miles. On that note, you have to know that while Miles and More offers some incredible mileage bargains, they do pass along surcharges, which can be significant on Lufthansa flights. At the same time, we sometimes see mileage bargains offering round-trip business class between the US and Europe for as low as 55,000 miles (we’ve even seen it as low as 10,000 miles one way earlier this year!). The surcharges might make it unappealing for some folks, though on the flip side, the opportunity to book Lufthansa business class far in advance, combined with expanded award space, can make it attractive.

This is great news for those who book through Rove Miles, as the program continues to get stronger. The new full list of Rove Miles transfer partners includes:

  • Aeromexico Rewards

  • Accor Live Limitless

  • Air France/KLM Flying Blue

  • Air India Maharaja Club

  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles

  • Etihad Guest

  • Finnair Plus

  • Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club

  • Miles & More

  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club

  • Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus

  • Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

  • Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles

Combine this new partnership with the newly announced ability to book hotels with the hotel itself being the merchant of record (which should make it possible to trigger Amex Offers and other card-linked credits for various chains) and Rove Miles is looking better than ever. I have an upcoming cash booking to make and I had been considering booking through another portal, but these new Rove Miles developments have me thinking seriously about booking through Rove instead.

Yeah, Rove shopping portal has a lot of potential, and the hotel stays (both independent hotels and the new loyalty eligible ones) are appealing. I don’t love paying in advance, and I always seem to get pulled away on cash hotels (Priceline + C1 Shopping often edges it out by just a bit). But with Hyatt and Marriott having paltry portal offers most of the time, I can see using it now for those bookings (IHG and Hilton often have insane C1 Shopping offers). They are doing a good job building the value proposition.

I’ve already booked 2 stays with Rove, and am finishing a third. The program is an absolute winner with these hard-to-get partners.

Rove Miles is absolutely too legit to quit. I am intrigued by this as well, especially since booking a 5 night stay in the Caribbean where I received 28 points per dollar.
