(Update) Did you get the Bilt 5x offer? Confirm it before doing your spending.

35

Update 1 pm EST: Bilt sent out a bunch of emails about 15 minutes ago, supposedly confirming who had the 5x offer attached to their account. The funny thing is that email went out to a ton of folks who hadn’t even used the TPG link and/or had signed up long after the promo was dead.

We have no idea if some of these are in error, or if Bilt just decided to give the promo to everyone one. Regardless, keep that email in case there are issues with the points posting.

~~~
Tomorrow, Bilt’s new credit card portfolio goes live, and those who have their cards in hand (unlike our own Nick Reyes) can start spending with them.
That’s especially for those folks who were able to get approved via a link exclusive to The Points Guy blog, available for 24 hours after applications went live, which gave approved applicants 5 days of 5x everywhere earning, up to a maximum of 50,000 bonus points. That 5-day clock will start at 12 am Saturday, so those who have it will undoubtedly want to get moving to try and maximize their bonus.
It’s worth confirming that you have Bilt’s 5x spending offer attached to your card before you start spending like a madman.
However, as Doctor of Credit reported a couple of days ago, there have been issues with the 5x offer attaching to some accounts, even when the applications were seemingly made while the increased offer was live. We’ve now seen numerous reports of people contacting Bilt and finding out that, contrary to what they believed, there was no 5x spending offer on their new cards.
As I understand it, the application page didn’t mention the 5x offer, before or after it was pulled, and there was also no mention that the promo was only valid for 24 hours. Because of that, some people who are having issues now may have thought they were applying for the 5x offer, but it had already been turned off. There’s also speculation that only instant approvals got the 5x; those applications that went pending didn’t.
Regardless, if you think your Bilt card will have the 5x everywhere promotion when it goes live, make sure to call Bilt to confirm that before you begin spending.
My card hasn’t arrived yet. I applied about 10 days ago and was approved instantly. Hopefully I can use the digital card in the meantime.
Whitney
I definitely applied and was approved using the TPG link before its announced expiration, but didn’t get the confirmation email 🙁 Hopefully it’s still coming…
Read all the exclusions for the 5X promo
The following purchases and transactions are not eligible purchases for
purposes of earning bonus points under this Promotional Offer: rent, mortgage,
housing-related fees (e.g., HOA dues, utilities, amenity fees), tax payments, and third party
payment accounts and online marketplaces with retailers who submit purchases using a
mobile or wireless card reader or if you use a mobile or digital wallet, including financial
intermediaries or services that process payments between you and merchants instead of
directly using your card (including products that consolidate multiple payment methods into
a single card or platform), digital platforms where multiple third-party sellers offer products
or services, and payment processing systems that utilize portable card-reading devices that
connect to mobile networks or wireless internet.
Hoping I’m in a later round, as I applied through TPG link and escalated info to human support via chat yesterday confirming. ‍♂️
JoeSchmo
Woah!! Trust lost?! Did you guys know of the better TPG bonus but didn’t post it?! I applied via the FM link but if I don’t get clarity on this or no response then that will be the last time I use your link!
Whitney
They did have it posted on their best offers page – but the offer didn’t last very long, so if you applied more than 24 hours after launch the offer had already expired.
Whitney
To build on this further, Greg even commented in the fb group that he contacted Bilt to try to get a similar type of deal for FM readers after the TPG link had already been pulled in exchange for FM giving up any affiliate commission they would otherwise make. So yeah, Greg and the FM team go out of their way to get readers the best deal and your accusation otherwise is unfounded. Seeing as they don’t get rewarded for most of the links on their best offers page anyway, your threat to not use their links in the future isn’t exactly the flex you think it is…
Harold
lol relax mr. schmo. they posted that the TPG link was the best available and that they didnt have access to it on day one
Tom
The fact is that people either don’t read or they lack reading comprehension. And, rather than asking a simple question — “Just checking, did you guys post the TPG link on your best offer page?” — they come out swinging.
Tom
It’s worth noting that Bilt is attempting to issue hundreds of thousands of replacement cards, as well as new cards, in the course of only two or three weeks.
Ben
Yes, and they said they would be able to do so. They shouldn’t be given any slack for their logistical failures.
Akash
I got a 5x offer email, up to 50,000 points. Even though I never applied via TPG, and I have the bilt blue card. Hoping it is not an error
J zhang
no for me
Kay
I have GOLD and this morning receive 5x offer up to 500 points yes 500. Even though have not received my card yet. Was told 3 to 5 days from today.
BRIAN
Yep, same here
Amy
I could not confirm. All they could confirm was that another email is coming out tomorrow with details about the points. They don’t have that information at this time. They did confirm that the words from TPG offer are correct but not whether I’d be receiving 100,000 points for $10k spend in the first 5 days. I did sign up prior to noon on 1/15/26.
Louis
Just received an unsolicited email from BILT confirming the 5x promotion.
Rick
Me too, got the email at 12:48PM EST that I got 5X
Fizzy
I did not reach out to chat because I applied through the TPG link many days after the 5X offer expired and clearly am not eligible for it. I just got an email that I’m eligible for the 5X. I think they are probably allowing anyone who applied through TPG to get it now.
Larry
I reached out via chat just now, and immediately after I got an email confirming the offer.
Christie
Did you apply through the TPG link? I did not and I did not get the email. I was fine with it, but would be thrilled to get the 5x as I have some college bills to pay.
DSK
Fun fact. Received an email yesterday from Bilt offering 500 bonus points for using Bilt in your mobile wallet from Feb 7-10. So figured I might as well add my old Bild card to mobile wallet today. Answer: “Your issuer does not yet offer support for this card.” Tried three times. Go Bilt!
Asher
How were you planning to use your old Bilt card Feb 7-10 to take advantage of the offer?
This offer is for the new Bilt card.
DSK
It is supposed to transfer seamlessly from old card to new card in Apple Wallet
Larry
It’s pretty clear that the card won’t be active until some time tomorrow, so I’m not surprised by this at all. You should be able to add tomorrow, I would think.
DSK
Haven’t received new card yet
Bryan
You shouldn’t need the card to add it to your mobile wallet. Go in the wallet tab in the bilt app tomorrow after 11am ET. Should have a button to add it to the wallet.
