Bilt Rewards continues to whittle away at the value you can get when redeeming Bilt Cash earned from spending on its credit cards if you’ve selected the Bilt Cash-earning option rather than the housing rewards-only option.
One redemption option is for Grubhub which was already limited in its usefulness as it’s capped at a $10 redemption each month. Since launching the concept of Bilt Cash, the Grubhub redemption option was awarding a $10 gift card that didn’t expire. Unfortunately that’s now changed and you’ll now get a promo card that does expire—potentially in a matter of hours.

To be fair to Bilt, this does appear to be how things were supposed to work all along when it came to the Grubhub redemption option. When launching Bilt Cash, they advertised the Grubhub credit as expiring in the month in which it was issued. With the implementation of Bilt Cash seeming to be a bit of a rush job though, it turned out that they didn’t have the mechanism in place to have expiring Grubhub promotional cards issued, instead issuing non-expiring $10 gift cards.
As you might expect, no one redeeming Bilt Cash for Grubhub complained about that situation because a $10 gift card that doesn’t expire has far more utility than a promotional card that does expire at the end of the month in which it’s issued. Even if you had no use for a Grubhub gift card yourself, you could resell it for just over 80%, thereby giving you a way to cash out a small amount of Bilt Cash for actual cash each month.
That route has sadly come to an end as $10 promotional cards are now being issued. As mentioned earlier, those expire in the month in which they’re issued. That could lead to an unfortunate situation where you redeem for a Grubhub card at the end of the month, only for it to expire a day or two later if you haven’t redeemed it immediately on a food order.

Bilt like garbage
Boo.. hiss… devaluations…enshitification…
When will you be able to use Bilt Cash for Blacklane (or Blade)?
More Pepper spray. Actually Bilt has added numerous additional rewards in the last three months. You are presenting a story in totally slanted terms and don’t accurately report the facts.
Here is the title of the article you meant to write” “How Frequent Miler Values the Bilt Card at Only $600, despite it being easy to find over $3,000 of Value From It”
Dawg… they’re making it more difficult to use BILT Cash. You can’t spin this positively.
I just used $150 of Bilt cash for 25,000 Avios points.
Ooof, it’s waaay more complicated and so much less useful than you suggest… you’re referring to the one-time Rent-Day promotion… for a 25% transfer bonus… which used to cost just $75 BC, now double ($150 BC)… c’mon, man…
Bilt PR team?
If L3 isn’t paid by BILT, that’s wild for someone to cuck this hard for a company for free. Like, ‘Ankur’s lapdog’ would be an understatement.
r/biltrewards reports that the more important change is that this does not stack with any other GrubHub promos. So depending on your ordering habits and how often you get promos on the restaurants you prefer to order from, this might make the credits useless.
To me this was the real loss on this. I’m only getting them when I make a purchase not to horde, but losing access to other promos when using sucks.
It’s not really a big deal. This puts in the same category as all the other GrubHub credits. You can stack with the Gold Card etc so it’s not bad.
Wrong. It’s a devaluation. Maybe not a ‘big deal’ to you, but $10/mo stacks up. And we’re gonna have a glut of BILT Cash by the end of the year. Ankur’s just counting on us to let it expire…
Also, it’s not stacking with every other Grubhub promo.
I had been stacking the $10 gift card w/ the AMEX Gold or AA Executive Grubhub credit, and that still worked this month w/ the promo code, so as long as I can double-dip, I don’t particularly care about the change (and the subsequent expiration).
Has anyone tried stacking this promo card with the Grubhub Instacart grocery $50 off $100 Gold Days promo?
Just don’t touch Walgreens.
They comin’ for your beloved Walgreens… and your Duane Reade, if you fancy..
Same use or lose concept of other credits. I used it over the weekend. Pretty straightforward.
