Quick Thoughts

Both versions of the Amex Offer can save you up to 20% on your flight, although the exact percentage saved will depend on how far above the $1,250 or $2,000 threshold the total is.

Be aware that this is only valid on flights originating in the US, so one-ways or round trips departing from the US are fine, but not if your first flight starts from elsewhere.

In addition to airfare, these Amex Offers should get triggered when paying for taxes and fees on Flying Blue award flights that originate in the US. Considering how relatively high those taxes and fees can be, it might not be too hard to spend $1,250 or $2,000.
