Late last week, American Express launched some changes to the American Express® Gold Card in celebration its 60th anniversary (note: this only pertains to the consumer version of the card). For the most part, the changes were pretty lukewarm and not particularly exciting or notable. However, they did make a couple of additions and have launched a few really good limited-time Amex Offers specific to Gold cardholders, without changing the card’s annual fee.

Annual fee remains unchanged
Perhaps the most important component of the most recent announcement is that the additions and changes announced all come with no change to the card’s $325 annual fee or core earnings structure. Key card details are listed below, but click through to our card page to see full card details.

FM Mini Review: This card offers an awesome return on US supermarket and worldwide dining spend, putting it at or near the top-of-class in both categories. Amex adds Uber One offer, Hertz Five Star for Gold cardholders
American Express Gold Card holders can now receive a statement credit for an annual UberOne membership with a new Amex offer that needs to be manually added. That’s a nice addition given that the card comes with a monthly $10 Uber Cash allowance. Since we have several cards in my household that have monthly Uber credits, I’m happy to be able to pay for an annual membership and have it rebated.
Hertz Five Star elite status is nice for anyone who doesn’t already have a path to Hertz elite status with another card. That said, the primary benefit of Hertz Five Star status is access to a slightly better selection of cars when reserving midsize or larger. You’ll also earn some additional points on rentals, but given the generally poor value of Hertz points and the even worse expiration policy, I don’t find Hertz elite status terribly meaningful beyond expanded car selection.
Now earn 5x on prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel
The Amex Gold card will now also offer 5X on prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel or in the Amex Travel app. I consider that a nice-to-have but not terribly compelling since other issuers offer 5X on bookings through their credit card portals on much cheaper cards. Keep in mind that booking through Amex Travel will often mean sacrificing the opportunity to earn hotel rewards, Elite Night credits, or receive Elite benefits.
Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder added as dining credit parters
The American Express Gold Card offers a $10 monthly dining credit for select merchants. Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder have been added as partners for that credit, while Goldbelly and wine.com will be removed as of July 1, 2026.
Whether or not that is an enhancement just depends on your own dining habits. In my household, we’ve been making it a habit to go to Five Guys for a gift card every month, so this won’t change our habits very much. In fact, when I saw this announcement, I had to wonder what Wonder is. Apparently, it is a food delivery app. I wonder where it exists?
Other limited-time Amex offers specific to the Amex Gold Card
In its press release, American Express also announced that there would be a number of Gold card-specific limited-time Amex Offers coming out in honor of the 60th birthday celebration. As noted above, the credit for Uber One membership is included in those offers. Doctor of Credit published the following list of limited-time Amex offers that are specific to Gold cardholders:
- CLEAR+: Earn 50% back on purchases, up to a total of $300.
- Uber One: Get up to $96 back (one-time) when you purchase an annual membership.
- Williams Sonoma: Spend $100+, earn $30 back.
- HBO Max: Spend $99+ on an annual subscription, earn $50 back.
- STAUD: Spend $350+, earn $90 back.
- Vivid Seats: Spend $400+, earn $60 back.
- CookUnity: Earn 40% back on purchases, up to a total of $60.
- Wine Insiders: Spend $120+, earn $60 back.
- Winc: Spend $75+, earn $40 back.
- CLEAR Concierge: Spend $99+, earn $99 back.
- Wine Access: Spend $150+, earn $60 back.
The utility of those offers will vary with your spending habits. Keep an eye out for opportunities to stack with great offers from shopping portals, as some of those offers could stack quite nicely with portals. Be sure to remember to seek out and activate these offers in your card account, as activation is required prior to making a purchase.

If only Wonder had a list of locations on their website:
https://www.wonder.com/food-delivery-locations
Its basically one kitchen with 10+ different restaurants. They allow eat-in and pick-up, but mainly food delivery. I think they are owned by the Blue Apron company, so they also serve as delivery hubs for Blue Apron, and sometimes a Wonder GC charge will trigger a Blue Apron CC offer (at least they used to on Amex, but I’m guessing that will be fixed).
Wonder also owns GrubHub
