I wrote this morning that there was a new Amex Offer out today that’s good for an extra 1000 Membership Rewards points at Amazon on a purchase of $200 or more through 5/31/22. I found this offer on several cards, but evidently there’s another offer as well. A reader reported getting a different offer on their card that is effectively the same 1,000 points on $200 spend, but it’s additive instead of all in one shot. So, you get 5x Membership rewards on everything UNTIL you’ve spent $200 total. DDG confirmed this as well.
The Deal
- Another Amex Offer is out today that’s good for 5x Membership Rewards points per dollar spent at Amazon.com on up to $200 in purchases (total of 1,000 MR). Enrollment required.
Key Terms
- Offer valid only for purchases made at Amazon.com and via the US Amazon mobile app.
- Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases.
- Not valid at international sites owned and/or operated by Amazon or websites affiliated with/linked to/from Amazon.com.
- Offer not valid for Amazon Go, Amazon Local, Amazon Mechanical Turk, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Home & Business Services, Amazon Currency Converter, Home Services, Prime Photos, Amazon Inspire, Amazon Video Direct, Amazon business, Amazon Global, or Amazon Drive.
Quick Thoughts
This is an even better deal than what we saw earlier as you earn points on any size purchase at Amazon up to $200 until May 31, making it very easy to max out (as opposed to this morning’s offer which required a single $200+ purchase).
I don’t have this offer on any of my cards, whereas the earlier offer appeared on multiple versions. Either one of them is a good deal for Amazon spending so check to see if you’re targeted!
Does Amazon warehouse count?
Am I reading the initial offer you posted about incorrectly? I read it to say 1000 extra points on a purchase of $200 in one or more transactions. So a single $200 or higher purchase is not required – yes? You just have to have at least $200 in purchases before you get the extra 1000 points?
There’s two, one requires a $200 purchase in one shot, the other does not. It just depends on which one you are targeted for.
Actually, I have both offers but neither seem to require a SINGLE purchase of $200. The language states “spend a minimum of $200 in ONE OR MORE transactions” – so wouldn’t that mean I could have multiple smaller transactions but I won’t get the 1000pts until the total of all those transactions hits $200?
Can you buy an Amazon gift card to trigger this? (Need to meet the signup bonus for my new card)
Yes, a Amazon Gift Card (purchased through Amazon) should be fine.
I’d rather get the 5X from Chase buying Amazon GC’s at Staples with the Ink card.
Preach it! 🙂
Note that the AmEx deal is 5 additional points. So I’d rather have the 6X Amex than the 5X Chase, but YMMV obviously.
Also, Amazon is one of the Q2 Freedom 5X categories, so in a couple weeks you can get the 5X Chase without even going to a Staples.
