A terrific targeted offer for the Blue Business Plus (BBP) is back again. Those folks that are targeted will earn 75,000 Membership Rewards points after $15,000 in purchases within the first 12 months (the current public offer doesn’t have any points attached).
You can also receive an additional 5,000 Membership Rewards by adding an employee card and spending $1,000 on that card within the first 12 months, for a total of 80,000 points. Spend on employee cards counts towards the total $15k minimum spend as well. The terms don’t make it clear how many employee cards can be added with that offer, so it may be possible to add more than one with the 5k/$1k offer.
This matches the best offer that we’ve seen for the Blue Business Plus. The application terms for the offer do not seem to include typical one-in-a-lifetime language, so even if you have had the card before, you should be eligible for the welcome bonus (if targeted).
The Deal
- Earn 75,000 Membership Rewards points after $15,000 in purchases within the first 12 months after approval for a new Blue Business Plus card.
Link to log in and see if you are targeted (you’ll have to log-in to your Amex account, then click “apply now” to see if you’re targeted)
You will need to log-in, then click the “apply” button to see if you’re targeted. If you don’t see the bonus on the landing page and/or get a message that says something along the lines of “Sorry, this offer is no longer available”, that means you’re not targeted.

Quick Thoughts
This targeted offer comes in and out periodically and matches the best offer that we’ve ever seen for for this card. The Blue Business Plus doesn’t usually have a welcome bonus except when applying via a referral link, and then it’s typically only been 10,000-15,000 bonus points after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months.
I’m a big fan of the Blue Business Plus. The card earns 2x on all spend (up to $50K in purchases per calendar year, then 1x). That makes it a terrific “everywhere else” card for people who value Membership Rewards points. Also, it’s a useful backstop card since it has no annual fee but keeps Membership Rewards points alive and transferable to partners. Thus, there’s never any worry about cancelling a MR-earning card and losing points.
By meeting the terms of this bonus, you would end up with a total of 105,000 points in the first year between the normal 2x on the first $15K in purchases and the 75K welcome bonus (and that’s without factoring in employee cards). That’s effectively 7x MR on $15K spending anywhere over one year with no annual fee. That’s a good return for a low monthly spend requirement and no annual fee.
I only see 50k points for this offer! Ugh
I’m targeted for the Business Cash Card, but not this one. I’m losing my mind. I don’t know how to get it. I have had AMEX cards for 10+ years. Currently have the personal Gold and Blue Cash.
If you weren’t targeted for this when it was originally posted, I’d suggest checking again now. I wasn’t targeted ~2 weeks ago, but I am as of today 🙂
Thanks again for posting!
after I log in it just goes to my account… does that mean the offer is “disappeared”?
After I log in it says the offer is no longer available. Does that mean I was not targeted or did they in fact stop the promo?
Not targeted
Thank yo so much! Just got approved for the 2nd Amex business blue plus card through your link and logged in, so no restriction for second approval! I currently still have the first Blue Plus card and getting close to the $50K threshold spending to earn 2X. Was planning to put the card away. Maybe Amex figure this no lifetime offer for me will continue my spending habit with them?? Again, many thanks for the heads up!
FYI, the Amex Business Plat + business checking (150K + 50K) pop up also does not show any Lifetime restriction wordings when I logged in for this Blue Plus card application. I currently have that business platunum as well. May try my luck after meeting the spend on this new card. Ill let you know.
I’m never lucky enough to be targeted for these BBP card offers. I only hold the Biz Gold since April.
Any idea the algorithm for these offers?
how do I get targeted? I only hold an Amex Cobalt card currently, thanks Tim
This may be a dumb question, but the only way to be targeted for an offer like this is to have a different Amex already, right?
I was not targeted for the offer, but used frequent miler link and logged in to apply. I got approved for my 2nd blue plus card. I still have the first blue plus card. So what I am saying is, try your luck on their link and login in to see. I was not targeted, but got a successful approval, even with a blue plus card.
This below part of the T&C (bold, highlighted and in italics) is confusing to me –
Welcome Offer
You can earn 75,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $15,000 or more (the “Threshold Amount”) in eligible purchases on your Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express within your first 3 months of Card Membership starting from the date your account is approved. The Membership Rewards points will be applied 8-12 weeks after the Threshold Amount is met. Eligible purchases can be made by the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on a single Card Account. Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments or purchases of other cash equivalents.
You can earn 75,000 Membership Rewards Points after you spend $15,000 or more on eligible purchases on your card within the first 12 months of card membership starting from the date that your account is opened. In rare instances, your period to $15,000 may be shorter than 12 months if there is a delay in receiving your Card. Also, purchases may fall outside of the 12 month period in some cases, such as a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction. (For example, if you buy goods online, the purchase date may be the date the goods are shipped)
If you take a screenshot of the application page, the terms and conditions clearly specify the 12 month period.
Due to this, and the fact that other recent larger-spend BBP applications have specified a 12 month period, I think we’re safe assuming that is the correct term.
Obviously, Amex forgot to change a 3 to a 12 in one spot of the TCs. I took screenshots of both the offer page and the TCs with the contradictory statements in case Amex decides I only have 3 months which I doubt will happen
goof return indeed.
Just got this offer when I logged in. Decided to go for it because I was in popup jail the last time I tried applying for an amex card about a month ago.
Just received a targeted message for 50k bonus with the 15k spend over 12 months. Since the 75k points offer expired a week ago, do you think AMEX will retroactively honor the previous reward of 75k? I know Chase will do that but haven’t heard much about AMEX doing the same thing…
15k spend, notforme
but it’s 15k in 12 mos
Tim–I have the cash version of this biz card, which I got when I downgraded from the Hilton business card around four years ago. Would I still be eligible to apply for this card that earns MR points? I clicked the link that was provided by DOC, and I saw the welcome page, so I assume I’m eligible. Thanks!
Yes, you would. The Blue Business Cash is considered a different card and so doesn’t affect your eligibility for a welcome offer on the Blue Business Plus. Additionally, this offer doesn’t have Amex’ once-in-a-lifetime language, so you’d be eligible even if you had the Blue Business Plus itself and were targeted for this offer. Just FYI, seeing the landing page doesn’t indicate whether or not you’re targeted. You’ll have to click “apply now” and log-in. If you get a screen that says “this offer is no longer available,” you aren’t targeted. If it lets you apply, you are.
