Quick Thoughts
The Wyndham Earner Business card is increasingly popular around these parts due to the 8x earnings on gas stations, 10% award rebate and the ability to redeem those awards for excellent value at Vacasa Vacation Rentals. The welcome offer seems to oscillate periodically between 45,000 points and 75,000 points with similar-ish spending requirements. Last time the 75K bonus was offered the minimum spend was only $1,000.
If you’re able to spend the $2,000 at gas stations (which is actually easier than it may seem, depending on the items your local gas stations sell), you’d end up with 91,000 points after completing the spend and adding the employee card. 91,000 Wyndham points is enough for six free nights at a 1 bedroom Vacasa property. While these rentals ordinarily cost 15,000 points per night, they are reduced to 13,500 points per night due to the 10% award discount benefit on the Business card…a terrific value for only $2,000 in spend.
I signed-up the last time the bonus was at 75k and am glad I did, especially since my local 7-11s code as gas and have lots of fun items to buy in-store.
I know this is resurrecting and old thread, but can’t find an answer to this:
I am interested in the card via my LLC. I had a partner in the LLC as well. From the signup page, it looks like the business card ties to one particular Wyndham account for the rewards? Is that true?
My partner and I divvy up the rewards points from our current card. He’s entitled to half of them, so I need for him to be able to use them as well.
If all the points (even from an employee card) deposit to 1 “rewards account then —
-Can I transfer points to him?
-Or, could I book a room for him in his name (he’d have his employee card, but the signup page says the numbers are different)?
Just want to be sure I understand how I am going to do this before I sign up.
Am I correct that Barclay’s/Wyndham is fine with VGC purchases at 7/11 as primary way to meet min spend?
That’s the way I did it 🙂
I’ve never heard of any issue with it.
Will purchase of VGC at speedway also works?
I applied for this card on May 20 and was approved June 9. I put in my spreadsheet that I would get 75k points after $1k minimum spend (plus one purchase on employee card). Now I’m wondering if I made a mistake or if the MS has gone up since June?
Also, do the three months start from date of application or date of acceptance?
Nope, you’re correct, the minimum spend went up to $2k.
Should be from date of approval.
My single best card. Just booked a 4 night stay in a vacasa home — used 108k points instead of $3100.
Thoughts on applying as sole prop with SSN vs. using my LLC? If possible I’d rather use the former.
I did the same thing here, applied as sole prop as opposed to using my LLC. Application was on hold for 2-3 days and then approved with plenty of limit automatically. I haven’t seen any DP’s suggesting Barclays is tougher on sole prop than LLC (provided your personal profile is in good shape).
which banks are easier to get a biz card approved using LLC?
Does anyone know when this offer might expire? I just signed up for a different card with big spend. Thank you!
Interestingly, Vicasa does not appear to have any rentals in Minnesota. What’s up with that?
That is kind of bizarre…there’s certainly a lot of vacation rentals in Minnesota!
FWIW I would be surprised if Barclays rolled out a better offer for this card anytime soon. More likely they will issue a new flavor of the card with downgraded benefits–as they have with several other cards (including Wyndham in the past)–because current benefits are way above the norm.
Anyone who can make use of these points at Wyndham hotels, Vacasa rentals, or Caesar’s resorts would be well advised to apply for this card. The annual fee is effectively negative (due to 15K point bonus); the ongoing perks are super impressive; earnings in gas (8%) and virtually all utilities (5%) are best in class by far; and because Barclays business cards are not reporting to the CRAs, it doesn’t even take up a 5/24 slot.
Any data points that confirm the Diamond status from this card will match to Caesar’s Diamond?
They have been reinstating previous matches, probably only for the remainder of the year. My assumption would that new applicants would get the same treatment…I’ll update once I get my card.
I’ve never added an employee on a business card (or an authorized user on my personal cards). What information is required to add an employee?
I’m wondering this as well. Have you found any data points on this?
I think all you need is the employee’s SSN. Cards get sent to the business address.
All you need is a name and DOB. No SSN number needed (so it shouldn’t show up on a credit report).
which gas stations sell $2-500 gift cards? none of my local big chain places do.
The most common ones are 7-11 and Speedway…although I’ve heard of several regional chains that do as well.
my local 7-11 only allows cash purchases of prepaid cards and no speedway within 20 miles.
I had been considering it…might be perfect timing for me if they approve me 🙂
Unfortunately they don’t seem to want to match offers if you recently got the card. I got it mid-April and sent them a secure message through the app requesting a match to this offer.
Their response: “ Thank you for contacting us about your Wyndham Rewards® Earner℠ Business Card. We understand that you’ve seen a different bonus offer than the one that was offered at the time of your application. Regrettably, we’re unable to change the terms on your account to a different offer. We are extremely sorry and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Bummer…how recently did you apply?
I was approved mid-April, application was started mid-March, however.
Tried to get this card previously and was denied. Any tips for reconsideration?
It’s Barclays. Don’t try to understand them. Just try something. With them, you never know.
I’ve heard of several instances where people were initially “declined” but Barclays just needed a copy of their DL, SS card, and a utility bill to verify identity and then they were approved. The reconsideration line should provide this info if this is what happened to you.
yup..happened with me. Even though I already have a current Barclays card for many years. One document was illegible via fax they claimed, so had to mail in same documents. Quite a hassle over a couple of months or what not now…supposedly approved for this card – on the old 45k offer. No matching to this offer.
