Bilt Rewards has announced its Rent Day promos for December, although the two featured promotions are actually valid for five days before the 1st as well. The headliner of the monthly promotion is that Bilt cardholders will be get up to a 100% bonus towards redeeming points for Amazon purchases.
That sounds great on the surface, but Bilt Rewards redeem at 0.7 cents each at Amazon, so even the 100% bonus for Platinum members will push it to only 1.4 cents, below our Reasonable Redemption Value of 1.55 cents each for Bilt Points.
In addition to the Amazon promo, Bilt cardholders will also earn 3x points on all normally 1x categories until November 30th…but only up to a maximum of $500 in purchases (or 1,000 bonus points). Rent is excluded from this bonus.
Bilt Rent Day Deals for December
- Bilt Mastercard holders will get a 25%-100% bonus when redeeming Bilt points for Amazon purchases between November 26th and December 1st, 2024.
- Good on up to a maximum of $5,000 in purchases
- Bonus rates depend on status in the Bilt Rewards program:
- Blue = 25% bonus
- Silver = 50% bonus
- Gold = 75% bonus
- Platinum = 100% bonus
- Must link your Bilt Mastercard with your Amazon account before making purchases. If your Bilt card is already linked, there’s no need to relink it.
- Bilt Mastercard holders will also earn 2 additional bonus points on up to $500 in normally 1x categories when using their Bilt Mastercard between November 26th and November 30th, 2024.
- Rent is excluded
- Also, earn double points on the Bilt Mastercard in all categories (up to 1,000 bonus points) on 12/1/24 only:
- Dining – 6x points (normally 3x)
- Travel – 4x points (normally 2x)
- All other spend excluding rent – 2x points (normally 1x)
- “Rent Free” Game Show
- When the Rent Day tab launches in the app, members can guess the top three answers to questions that were asked to 1,000 Bilt members
- Each member will get one entry into the free rent sweepstakes for each correct answer they get (up to three entries max, maximum of $2,500 per person)
- Ten winners are chosen.
Quick Thoughts
This month’s bonus sounds terrific, especially with Black Friday coming up. Unfortunately, Bilt’s standard rate for Amazon redemptions is a measly 0.7 cents each. Because of that, the promo will only elevate them to somewhere between .875 – 1.4 cents of value towards Amazon purchases, well below what could be had by transferring the points to travel partners.
There might be folks out there who have millions of Bilt Points to burn. For them, the opportunity to redeem some of them for Amazon purchases at ~1 cent each could be appealing. For the rest of us with more modest balances, it probably won’t move the needle much…and shouldn’t.
The addition of the additional 2x points on 1x categories between November 26th and November 30th is certainly better than nothing. Unfortunately, like the usual Rent Day, the maximum bonus points you can get is limited to 1,000, which limits the appeal significantly.
That said, this and the normal 2x Rent Day on the 1st makes it the ideal time to hit your 5 transaction minimum in order to earn points on rent and/or all of your card purchases, so don’t forget to bust it out if you’re a cardholder.
