Get $300 back on Virgin Atlantic flights with new Amex Offer

3

There is a new targeted (but widely available) Amex Offer out that’s good for $300 back when you send $2,000 or more with Virgin Atlantic. For those still looking for 2025 European travel, this could be a useful accoutrement and could take some of the bite out of those inflated Virgin award surcharges, especially if you combine it the current 40% transfer bonus from Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Quick Thoughts

Saving $300 on a paid ticket is no chump change and this offer could be timely for folks looking to save some cash on a trip to Europe.

This should be valid for surcharges on award tickets, as it only requires it to be a one-way or roundtrip ticket booked on Virgin Atlantic (ie, it doesn’t specify all cash or exclude awards tickets). For a family, award taxes and the fuel surcharges added by Virgin Atlantic can easily add up to north of $2,000, so this could also be used to take some sting out of those additional fees.

Do note the restriction on flight origin: terms dictate that flights must originate in the US and be charged in US dollars to qualify. I always find that mildly annoying since I prefer to book flights as one-ways and would rather book a one-way from Europe to the US — but I can’t do that with this offer since flights need to originate in the US…although I’m not sure how fervently that’s enforced.

Regardless, in the right situation, this could be a useful offer.

If you book then cancel can you use the credit for a flight that doesn’t originate in the US? Or could that same credit be used to pay award fees for a flight not originating in the US?
