Quick Thoughts
The travel brands listed here offer some of the best deals of all seeing as you’ll get 15% off Hotels.com, 12.5% off Southwest and 20% off Amtrak. Even better, there doesn’t appear to be any limit on how many you can order, so it’s not like some deals where you’re limited to one or two.
Having said that, the biggest barrier to taking advantage of this deal will be BJ’s themselves. I’ve tried placing orders for similar deals in the past and each time they’ve cancelled my order. Other people have success with getting large orders through though, so don’t let the fact that I seem to be a magnet for fraud concerns when ordering gift cards online from many websites dissuade you from at least trying if you’re interested.
If you don’t have a membership to BJ’s (which, if you’re not familiar, is similar to Sam’s Club and Costco), there are a couple of discounted membership options available to you. First, they offer a $10 online-only membership. Considering these deals are (presumably) only available online, that could be a good option.
Alternatively, you can get a standard Inner Circle membership for $25 through Groupon. Inner Circle memberships normally cost $55, so that’s a pretty good deal if you ever want to visit an actual BJ’s store.
These deals are due to run until July 27 but the popular brands tend to sell out quickly, so it’d be best to place an order sooner rather than later if you’re interested in any of these. Click through from a shopping portal too in case it tracks; gift card purchases have tracked in the past, although I don’t know if they still do. Here are the latest rates according to Cashback Monitor.
What are the downsides booking hotels.com ? All hotels bookable ?
Not all hotels are bookable, although the site has a filter on the left allowing you to only search for properties at which you can redeem gift cards ahead of time.
Positives about Hotels.com are that you can often buy discounted gift cards and you’ll also earn 10% back in Welcome Rewards. You can therefore frequently get overall savings of 25% or more, plus shopping portals sometimes track when redeeming gift cards even though that’s usually excluded.
Downsides are that in most cases you won’t receive status benefits if you have elite status with that chain, you won’t earn points, elite night credits, etc. You might also get a slightly better rate by booking directly with the property and/or use AAA/AARP membership for additional discounts.
Good thru 2091. I have the rest of my life to get these so why the rush?
Thanks – fixed!
Some of these are enticing. The restaurants not so much. Costco has gift cards to some of these restaurants for less
