There have been some unusual partnerships in the travel world in recent years as if created during a game of Mad Libs. Hilton and Roblox, InterContinental and Spirit (which sadly wasn’t real) and more.
There’s now a new unusual partnership that potentially offers a surprising value proposition – Sandals & Beaches Resorts and Choice Privileges. Yes, the chain that includes such esteemed brands as Rodeway Inn, EconoLodge and Quality Inn has teamed up to reward you when you stay at upscale all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.
The Deal
- Earn 35,000 bonus Choice Privileges points + Gold status when booking a 3+ consecutive night stay at Sandals and Beaches resorts.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- The following terms govern the offer of 35,000 bonus Choice Privileges points and a one-time upgrade to Gold Elite status after completing a qualifying stay of three+ consecutive paid nights at a Sandals or Beaches Resorts (the “Offer”). All other terms regarding the vacation packages are governed by the applicable Sandals and Beaches Resort terms on their website.
- The Offer is available to members of the Choice Privileges® Rewards Program in good standing who maintain an address in the U.S. (includes U.S. territories). To be awarded bonus points and Elite status, you must provide your Choice Privileges number at the time of booking where requested; the Offer does not apply to existing bookings. Stays must be booked on the Sandals or Beaches sites through the link provided in the Offer email or via the link on ChoiceHotels.com. Stays must be for a minimum of three consecutive nights and be booked between November 8, 2024, and January 8, 2025, and the stay must be started and completed between November 8, 2024, and January 8, 2027. Offer eligibility is limited to one paid stay per calendar year.
- Gold Elite status will be awarded to members making qualifying stays who do not currently have elite status. If the member already has a Choice Privileges elite status of Gold or higher, then there will not be a status upgrade. Typically, the Gold status upgrade will be applied within four weeks from check-out of the qualifying Sandals or Beaches stay, but it can take up to eight weeks. Note that Gold elite bonus points will not be earned on the Offer bonus points or any stay processed prior to the upgrade being applied. Members upgraded to Gold Elite status will retain that status for one (1) year after the completion of their qualifying Sandals or Beaches stay. After that time, the member must qualify for elite level status each calendar year.
- The Offer does not apply if guests check out early. The Offer is not applicable to groups and cannot be combined with any other Choice discounts, special offers or promotions. Stays under this Offer do not qualify for Elite bonus or as Elite qualifying nights, nor do they qualify for Your Extras/Weeknight Rewards. Offer bonus points will be awarded 6-8 weeks after the completion of the stay. Choice Hotels reserves the right to amend these terms or terminate the Offer at any time. For Choice Privileges program details, eligible rates, eligible countries and point redemption rules, visit https://www.choicehotels.com/choice-privileges/rules-regulations. Most Choice hotels are independently owned and operated; Unique Travel Corp (Sandals and Beaches Resorts) is an independent company that is not owned or operated by Choice.
Quick Thoughts
This partnership isn’t going to make it worth doing a mattress run at one of these all-inclusive resorts, but if you’ve been eying up a Sandals or Beaches stay it’ll be nicely rewarding.
Our Reasonable Redemption Value for Choice points is 0.67cpp (cents per point). That means that you can reasonably expect to get at least $234.50 of value from the 35,000 bonus points you’d earn from this partnership, if not more if you cherry-pick award bookings. The accompanying Gold status with Choice will be far less valuable, but it might get you a bottle of Kirkland water and an upgrade to a room with a view of the parking lot rather than a wall.
Stays at Sandals and Beaches resorts don’t come cheap, but there are some potentially good deals on stays available. For example, if you’re interested in a last minute stay at Sandals Ochi in Jamaica, two people can stay from December 14-17 from only $1,077.
That works out to be $359 per night which isn’t cheap per se, but it is an all-inclusive resort on a Caribbean island and is the all-in price for two people. All tips, tax and gratuities are included, as are non-stop roundtrip airport transfers, unlimited premium spirits and much more.
If you want to take advantage of this partnership you have to book by January 8, 2025, but the promotion is valid on stays through January 8, 2027. The terms state that you’re limited to one offer per calendar year which means you could, in theory, earn four sets of 35,000 bonus points if staying before the end of 2024, then in 2025, 2026 and finally in the first few days of 2027.
It might be possible to stack Choice earnings with shopping portal earnings too – you can find the latest Sandals portal rates here and Beaches portal rates here. To do that, click through to Sandals or Beaches from a shopping portal, then copy and paste this link for Sandals or this link for Beaches. Those latter links are the referral links relating to the partnership with Choice, so there’s no guarantee that portal earnings will track and pay out, but it could be worth a try.
