Update 6/11/21: This offer has now gone live.

~

If you’re a Chase Southwest cardholder, there’s a great offer coming up this Friday as you can earn 50 Rapid Rewards points per dollar on up to $100 of spend with Southwest.

Southwest 50x

The Deal

  • Earn 50x Rapid Rewards points on up to $100 of spend with Southwest when paying with any Chase Southwest credit card.
  • Direct link to offer.

Key Terms

  • During the one-day promotional period of 6/11/2021 from 12:00:00 AM ET – 11:59 PM E.T. you will qualify and earn a total of 50 points for each $1 spent with any Rapid Rewards Credit Card, on up to $100.00 in total purchases, made directly with Southwest Airlines, including flight, inflight, Southwest gift card, Rapid Rewards Points Center, and on Southwest Vacations packages (“Qualifying Purchases”).
  • That’s 48 bonus points on top of the 2 points already earned on Qualifying Purchases made with the Rapid Rewards Priority, Premier, Plus or Employee Credit Cards or 47 bonus points on top of the 3 points already earned on Qualifying Purchases made with a Rapid Rewards Performance Business Credit Card or 49 bonus points made with any remaining Rapid Rewards Credit Cards.
  • Qualifying Purchases made on a qualifying Rapid Rewards Credit Card during the Promotion Period are eligible for this offer.
  • Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period.
  • You’ll earn points on Qualifying Purchases, made with your Rapid Rewards Credit Card by you or an authorized user of the account.
  • The bonus points will count towards Companion Pass but will not count towards A-List or A-List Preferred qualification.
  • Please allow up to 8 weeks after the end of the Promotion Period for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account.
  • To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
  • This bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account of the primary Cardmember referenced in this offer.
  • All Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Cards are eligible.

Quick Thoughts

While it’s a shame that the 50x rate is limited to $100 of spend with Southwest, that’s still a very generous rate which makes it easy to pick up 5,000 bonus points, especially considering they’re Companion Pass-eligible points. Even if you don’t have any plans to book a Southwest flight right now, you can buy a $100 Southwest gift card for future use to lock in the 50x rate.

What’s not clear is if you can earn 5,000 bonus points more than once if you have more than one Southwest credit card. The terms don’t specifically exclude that, so I suspect that you can earn more than 5,000 bonus points by spending up to $100 on two or more different Southwest cards.

Note that this offer is only valid on Friday June 11, so we’ll repost this once it’s gone live as a reminder.

I bought a $100 WN GC and have verified I got the 50x (actually 52 with normal points from using WN CC with WN).

TyStL

Stephen, I’m seeing a promotion for points purchase of 6500 points for $99.00 which with the 50x multiplier would give 11,450 points. You seeing this? That would make it a no-brainer

TyStL

Yea, I think it is targeted…sweet deal.

TyStL

Actually it was 6,000 points for $99, not 6,500.

Nick Reyes

Wow! That sounds great. Where are you seeing that? Is there a link? Or could you send me a screen shot? (nick at frequentmiler dot net). Thanks!

TyStL

No special link, just straight from the RR Point Center. I emailed you screen caps. 🙂

Dan

I don’t see it at the RR Point Center (although I recall the recent email, which I can’t seem to find in my trash). Point Center offers me only full price (e.g., 6000 pts for $165). Does any one have a link to share? Thanks.

John

Well, my statement closed and only the 2 points per dollar charged posted! I bought 3500 points from the Points Center on 6/11. 255 points were added to my RR account. I called Chase and they were adamant, the charge posted to my account AFTER the promotion ended, so I didn’t qualify for the promotion. So, no points for me. I called SWA and they said it might take up to 8 weeks to get the points, but they said I DID QUALIFY….so, we’ll see.

Nick Reyes

My statement hasn’t closed, but when I pull up the transaction details in my Chase login, I can see that it earned 50x. My purchase was an airfare purchase though, not points.

What does the transaction date say and your Chase statement? What about the vendor? What time of day did you make your purchase (was it close to midnight)?

John

Hi Nick,
The statement says June 12…even though I made the transaction through the Points Center before 8AM on the 11th….Southwest Points Center says the transaction was on the 11th…it says the same on my RR account activity, too….not close to midnight, nowhere NEAR midnight….so, we’ll see…Chase was quite adamant about it, even threatened to close my Priority card, still wouldn’t budge…

Laurie

Would it be bad to purchase 3500 points for $105? I can’t find any verbiage saying you can’t purchase points with this offer.

Kim L Davis

wish this was shared in the original article. I already purchased gift card.

Matmaliack

So is this per rapid rewards account or per credit card?

Joseph Giorgianni

I bought one with my personal card.

Chris

I’m in. Bought $100 with personal and $100 with business. We’ll see if she works! Thanks for the share.

Chris

It will be interesting to see if this stacks with the 6x Chase offer on the personal card. Could get up to 5,600 points on the $100 GC…

DaninMCI

It seems like a good way to raise some quick, short-term, cash by Southwest. It’s shame they didn’t allow this for points purchases as many would have done that instead which would have cost them less in the end.
