Choice Hotels has opened registration for a new promotion and, even though it sounds similar to its normally promotions, it’s actually set up differently to normal.
The Deal
- Stay 2+ consecutive nights at Choice Hotels properties & earn 8,000 bonus points.
- Direct link to registration.
Key Terms
- This Offer is for an award of 8,000 bonus points after you stay two or more consecutive nights at participating Choice hotels. Registration required at https://www.choicehotels.com/choice-privileges/promo/stay-two-nights-get-8k-points before checking into your first qualifying stay.
- The Offer is only available to members of the Choice Privileges Rewards Program who register for it, book on a qualifying channel, and then make a qualifying stay of two or more consecutive nights at a participating hotel between October 2, 2024, and January 5, 2025.
- The Choice Privileges member number must be on the reservation.
- WoodSpring Suites hotels, Mainstay Suites, Everhome Suites, Suburban Studios and Ascend Hotel Collection all-inclusive resorts, among others, are not participating brands.
- Registered members that make a qualifying stay of two+ consecutive nights will be awarded 8,000 bonus points. To be eligible to earn bonus points, members must set their earning preference to Choice Privileges points in their online account. Any change made to earning preference will remain in effect after the promotion has ended unless the member changes it. Bonus points are not subject to any Elite bonus.
- The Offer is only valid for qualifying stays, which exclude rooms booked below certain rates, reward night stays, complimentary rooms, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, rooms booked through a travel agent, wholesale packages, group tours, and stays booked using the employee discount or the friends, family and associate discount.
- Members may take advantage of this Offer a maximum of three times during the Offer period, although the member may continue to earn base points (and any Elite bonuses) on subsequent qualifying stays. Bonus points require a minimum stay of two consecutive nights at a single hotel. Bonus points are not awarded if you check out early, which then results in a stay of less than the required nights.
- Qualifying Channel: Members must book stays via ChoiceHotels.com, the Choice Hotels mobile app, or 800.4CHOICE. Stays directly booked through Book by Google are also eligible, if the member adds their Choice Privileges number to the reservation prior to check-in. Corporate travelers may book through their online booking tool, GDS, or with a travel agent; however, reservations booked through Egencia’s Preferred Rate Program do not qualify for bonus points. Choice Privileges member number must be provided upon check-in. Allow four weeks from check-out for points to post.
Quick Thoughts
For most people, this latest Choice promo will be a better deal than their usual promos. Choice normally ensures members earn at least 8,000 points when staying twice, but there are a couple of quirks with that offer. One is that you have to have two separate stays, while the number of bonus points is always at least 5,000 bonus points but never actually reaches 8,000 bonus points as Choice takes into account the base points you earn when calculating the number of bonus points you’ll earn to get at least 8,000 points total.
This new promo awards 8,000 bonus points on top of your base points, so you’ll be better off than with those standard promos. The only exception will be if you’d be booking two separate stays of one night as this latest offer requires that you stay at least two nights consecutively.
It’s also nice that the bonus points from this new promotion can be earned up to three times for a total of up to 24,000 bonus points.
Seeing as this promotion is only valid on paid stays, be sure to click through from a shopping portal – here are the current rates. If you don’t need to book your reservation urgently, it’d be worth browsing the Choice Hotels website on a browser with the Capital One Shopping browser extension installed. I’ve been getting targeted offers for Choice for up to 22.5% cashback over the last few months, so that’s better than the 1%-6% you’ll get through other shopping portals.
Thanks for highlighting the change in terms. I’ve taken advantage of this offer so much in the past, I’d likely have registered and not realized they tweaked it.
IMO, this is a lousy change. I do a lot of road-tripping out west where Choice properties are abundant in the small towns, and the old two-stay promo worked perfectly as I’d get one stay on the outbound and one on the inbound. Choice properties are fine for a one-night stopover, but if I’m staying at a destination hotel for 2 or more nights (especially domestically), I’ll be looking for a higher-end property.
I agree that this new promo is not a good change. Much easier to squeeze in a Choice stay for one night twice versus two consecutive nights.
