Choice Privileges max award pricing for Preferred Hotels reduced from 118k to 87k

For Choice Privileges members who are fans of redeeming their points for stays at Preferred Hotels, the last few months haven’t been their preferred scenario.

The first hit came in June when the max award pricing was increased from 55,000 points to to 87,000 points. Choice then jacked up the top award pricing even further to a ludicrous 118,000 points per night.

Well, there’s some welcome news on that front as the Choice Privileges program has decided to row back that latest change.

Choice Privileges Preferred Hotels 87.000 points cap

As you can see in the screenshot above, the maximum pricing now appears to be capped at 87,000 points per night. That’s still a big increase compared to six months ago, but it is a welcome reprieve from award nights costing as much as 118,000 points per night.

Fingers crossed that this award pricing reduction sticks and that it’s not just a temporary change.

I believe now that it is easier to book Preferred Hotels using Choice points that sudden demand caused the repricing. You charge what the market will pay. I wish all Preferred Hotels had to make rooms available with points.

I believe that the 55k max price was in place for the last few years…

Greg The Frequent Miler

You’re right. It’s been 55K for as long as I can remember. Fixed.
