Quick Thoughts
ThankYou points usually transfer to Flying Blue on a 1:1 basis, so with this transfer bonus they’ll transfer on a 1:1.3 basis.
That’s great news if you’d like to take advantage of the Promo Rewards that I wrote about earlier today. (See: Flying Blue Promo Rewards: 50% Off Award Tickets From IAD & IAH.) For example, I’d found round trip flights from Houston to Prague for 26,000 miles in Economy. With this transfer bonus, you’d only need to send over 20,000 ThankYou points to book that flight.
That’s a steal given that similar travel dates would require the following on other airlines:
- Delta – 74,000 miles
- American Airlines – 60,000 miles
- United – 60,000 miles

Has Citi offered bonuses like this in the past/do you think they will in the future?
I don’t believe that they’ve offered a bonus to Flying Blue before, but they have offered transfer bonuses to other partners in the past – you can find both past and present examples here: https://frequentmiler.com/current-point-transfer-bonuses/
As for the future, I’d expect them to offer transfer bonuses in general in the future. Whether or not that’ll include Flying Blue though is anyone’s guess. If I had to guess, seeing as they’ve offered a bonus once, that makes me think it’d be more of a possibility in the future, but definitely not guaranteed. If they did offer it again, it’d likely be in a year’s time rather than a couple of months down the road.
