Delta has released a handful of dates of business class saver availability to partners for its non-stop flight between JFK and Brussels. There are many days with 2+ available seats, primarily between January and March. This availability was first spotted by Dan’s Deals. Although this is a fairly niche redemption, the combination of there being 2+ seats available and a 30% transfer bonus from Chase to Virgin Atlantic means that you can grab two business class seats to Europe for 77,000 Ultimate Rewards each roundtrip.
While the availability shows up on Delta, the pricing is astronomical. What makes this a great deal is when you can book using Virgin Atlantic points at 50K each way, ideally converted from Chase Ultimate Rewards using the current transfer bonus.
The Deal
- Delta business class from JFK to Brussels in Jan/Feb/March for 39,000 Ultimate Rewards points each way (by converting to 50,000 Virgin Atlantic points using the current transfer bonus)
- Taxes and fees are $6 outbound and ~$280 on the return.
- There’s are a smattering of dates that are available in November, December and April as well.
- Virgin is a transfer partner of American Express, Bilt, Citi, Chase and Capital One. Transfers are instant for Amex, Citi and Chase. Transfer time for Bilt and Capital One is unknown.
Here’s current availability (using Virgin’s flexible dates calendar) from JFK-BRU for 2+ passengers from Jan-Mar. I clicked through several dates to confirm that the availability was actually there:
Here’s the return availability from Brussels, again for 2 passengers. Note that the non-stop Delta flights are the 50,000 points awards, NOT the 48,500 (which is a connecting flight with higher fees):
Quick Thoughts
This is a specific, shoulder-season route and won’t be terribly useful for a lot of folks. But, having 2+ seats come open in Delta business to Europe that is bookable via Virgin Atlantic at the same time as a UR transfer bonus will be worth it for some folks to take a look at. For those that need the space and can use it, it’s a nice availability drop.
How can I get past these errors after clicking to purchase the tickets? Sorry, there are no longer seats available on your chosen flight. Please try another search.#100503A
So close! I thought I had one booked!
Looks like Amsterdam has a few dates available as well.
I could find 6 seats in biz on several dates, but our spring break this year is at the end of March so this will not be an option for us.
