Delta is offering yet another flash sale this week, with flights available to Europe from 28K round trip and South Africa from 54K round trip for travel between January 15, 2019 and March 7, 2019. There are also deals listed to some Caribbean destinations. As usual, Delta provides a list of cities that is not complete — you’ll find better-than-normal deals from many cities in these flash sales. If you have intentions to travel to Europe or South Africa this winter and you’re looking for a deal in economy class, it’s worth a look at this sale. You have until 11:59pm PST on Thursday, December 13th to book.

Quick Thoughts
These Delta flash sales have gotten progressively better in my opinion. In the beginning, they were still essentially tied to cash prices with values around $0.01 each, but there are more and more opportunities to get decent value with these flash sales.
For example, you can find a few dates with round trip 1-stop availability from New York to Johannesburg for 54,000 miles plus $61. While it’s possible to fly that to Johannesburg for around $675 or to Cape Town for a bit less with other carriers, these represent relatively strong value if you want to fly Delta.
Routes to Europe are also on sale, with Boston to London ringing in at 28K miles round trip — though the ~$180 in taxes and fees on top make that less enticing. Boston to Amsterdam is probably a more attractive deal at 30K plus about $48 round trip, though you’ll be disappointed if you had it in mind to get a pic with the “I Amsterdam” sign.
Overall, it’s best to just search your city with flexible dates as you can view 5 weeks of availability at a time to see what you can find for your specific dates after you get a feel as to the destinations on sale.
