Quick Thoughts
While this flash sale isn’t amazing and certainly isn’t as stellar as the recent Southwest launch offers for Hawaii, if you’re SkyMiles-rich and don’t want to pay cash for a trip to Hawaii, this could be a good option.
As mentioned at the start of the post, Delta is marketing this as round trip flights from 31,000 miles from some cities. Some rates are even lower though, such as Los Angeles to Kona from 29,000 SkyMiles round trip in April.
The 29,000 redemption is in Main Cabin, while the same route also offers Comfort+ for 45,000 SkyMiles.
The lowest award prices seem to be based on flights from the west coast, but the east coast is being shown some love too. For example, Main Cabin flights from New York to Honolulu are available from 42,000 SkyMiles round trip. That’s certainly not exceptionally low, but it’s still less than the 45,000 miles you’d have to use with American Airlines.
These redemptions aren’t too great from a cpp perspective, but are still worth considering if you have a stash of SkyMiles. For example, the 29,000 redemption from LAX-KOA prices out at $388 round trip.
That’s a redemption of only 1.34 cpp, but for some that’ll be better than splashing out cash for the trip.

I’m planning to fly the WN planes to HNL as both pilot and sole passenger. More peanuts and booze for me. “8 seconds from bottle to throttle” is the reg, correct?
Delta page says travel time is 3/15 – 5/22, not 3/15-3/22, right?
Snagged a better Skymiles deal than this last fall, booked well in advance for our trip in 2 weeks. Gotta love those empty flights from SEA, makes you wonder how long DL will operate them.
Their Looking to put off SW I book with Singapore points ORD>HNL.
Great POST !!!
