Miles Talk reports that Citi is once again allowing both dining and grocery purchases to count toward the Citi Prestige card’s annual $250 travel credit.
Citi had previously broadened the categories that qualify for the Prestige card’s travel credit in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. It’s great to see that happen again this year for cardholders who wouldn’t otherwise have plans to use the card to pay for some travel.
Keep in mind that the Citi Prestige card is no longer available for new applicants, so this news is only applicable to those who already have the card. I dumped mine a couple of years ago, but if I still had it I would be happy to see this credit count toward dining and groceries because Citi eliminated most travel protections, so I wouldn’t want to actually book much travel on the Prestige card if I could otherwise avoid it. Since cardholders get 5x on dining, being able to use the credit while earning 5x sounds like a much better deal to me.
Now let’s see what JPMC/AmEx has in store for COVID 2022 benefits/credits/offers.
While the Prestige has lost it’s Glitz over the past years – it’s slightly refreshing to see some flexibility for those who still hold the card.
