Quick Thoughts
For someone shooting for Delta status this year, taking advantage of this promotion might make sense. However, be aware that you could be forgoing better deals, elite status benefits and earnings.
Delta’s booking portals are powered by Expedia, so the prices should be competitive, but you might be able to find better deals through other OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) or by booking directly.
Booking hotels via the Delta portal(s) means that you won’t receive elite status benefits, earn hotel points, get elite night credits, etc. It also means that you’ll be missing out on shopping portal earnings as well, so earning only 1 SkyMile per dollar plus 1 Medallion Qualification Dollar per dollar spent might not be worth the opportunity cost.
Hey y’all! Thanks for the post. @Stephen do you know if the MQDs earned through stays will count towards meeting a status match challenge?
Provided the status match challenge you’re enrolled in doesn’t have different terms, these MQDs should be eligible. From this page:
How Can I Earn MQDs For This Challenge?
MQDs can be earned the following ways:
Delta Vacations is explicitly listed as being eligible, so you should be good.
Thank you Stephen! Quick follow, do you know if Delta’s hotel portal, I believe marketed as DeltaExtras, would be considered Delta Vacations? Seems like it might be a separate category but I can’t tell.
I’m not sure I’m afraid
Thanks anyway Stephen, appreciate the response!
