Black Friday Deals [Master post with regular updated this week]
We continuously added to our Black Friday Deals post with various deals that may be of interest. Don’t sleep on some of the easy ones: stacking 20% back at Macy’s or Carter’s plus $35 back as a new TopCashBack user means $45 back on $50. Encourage friends and family to sign up! The other one you shouldn’t sleep on is Rakuten’s retail site. With 20% off site-wide, you may find some interesting deals. The screen shot above shows event tickets found on Rakuten. Unfortunately, the stacking deal for $30 back in points is over, but that would have amounted to about $50 off/back on $100 while it lasted. Keep your eye on this Black Friday post through Cyber Monday for more of those opportunities.
5 easy ways to increase credit card spend without going broke
As we discussed this week on the podcast, one of the ways I do this is by being the designated “payer” for stuff, getting reimbursed by friends and family. That’s so common in fact that my wife and I were recently invited to a birthday food tour with friends and when the host sent a message saying that everyone should bring cash or be ready to Venmo to make it easy, my wife said, “What? So he gets all the points?”. See this post to find out how you can be that guy.
Searching for Hyatt SLH extreme luxury
I got less excited about Calala Island than everyone else did. It certainly has elements that sound quite nice, maybe it’s just the idea that a resort in the Caribbean that’s so expensive as to justify 40K Hyatt points can’t bode too well for the prospects of not seeing a Hyatt devaluation in the coming year or two. That said, the Small Luxury Hotels do seem to add something unique and interesting to Hyatt. If you’re wondering where else to look for a gem like that, look no further than this post.
Book Marriott meeting online for $100, get 10 elite nights
This is awesome: while I’ve known about the ability to book a meeting to get 10 nights of elite credit, I was not aware that it could be booked completely online, and certainly not so cheaply. That said, check the comments — at lest one reader was able to sweeten it a bit further when a property agreed to take just $50 for his short meeting. It may still be worth sending a few emails before you settle. Either way, it’s great knowing that you have a easy way to pick up 10 elite nights for just $100.
