We first wrote about casino matching for free cruises back in 2021, and I took my first of more than a dozen “free” cruises in 2022. While the on-ramps to free cruise matching have become significantly more limited than they once were, there are still opportunities to match your way to adventure on the high seas in 2026.
Three primary ways to get free cruises
While the paths to free cruises are harder than they once were, it is still possible to get complimentary cruise offers through matching and moderate gambling.
There are three primary ways to get complimentary cruises:
- Land-based casino loyalty programs & matches
- Cruise line player club matched offers
- Gambling
There is no doubt that the on-ramps to cruise matching have narrowed, but they still exist.
Land-based casino loyalty programs & matches
It is still possible to match your way to complimentary cruises at some land-based casinos, though in many cases, you’ll need to do some amount of gambling to unlock the cruise offers. Depending on your tolerance for risk and/or variance, it may still be worth pursuing matches. Keep in mind that it can be worth looking for opportunities at smaller “local” casinos for opportunities that are less widely published.
For land-based casino matching, you’ll likely need to find a path to either Caesars Diamond or MGM Gold status. Keep in mind that almost all casino status matches must be done in-person.
Caesars Diamond via the Caesars Prestige Card (or gambling strategy)
The Caesars Prestige credit card offers the chance to earn tier credits with the introductory bonus (at the time of writing) and after meeting certain spending tiers:
- 2,500 tier credits with the introductory bonus
- 2,500 tier credits after $5K in purchases in a calendar year
- 2,500 tier credits after $10K in purchases in a calendar year
- 15,000 tier credits after $50K in purchases in a calendar year
Given that Caesars Diamond status only requires 15,000 tier credits in a calendar year, it is possible to spend all the way to Diamond (or halfway to Diamond with $10,000 in purchases in the first calendar year). For some reason, I got an additional 2,500 tier credits for a total of 10,000 tier credits so far, with more than $10K in purchases on the card.
For some folks, it might be worth putting some spend on the card and then making up the difference in tier credits via 5X / 10X tier credit days at Caesars properties. The blog Traveling Well For Less has a post that includes a document listing all of the 2026 5x and 10x tier credit days. I saw several ads on that post for PDF printing services (which looked like buttons you should click, but were really ads). Instead, be sure to scroll to the part that says “You can download this PDF of all 2026 5x tier multiplier days”. It’s actually a Word document, but it includes dates for tier credit multipliers at Caesars properties across the country.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that if you have earned Wyndham Diamond status through stays, that status can be matched to Caesars Diamond. If your Wyndham status comes from the Wyndham Earner Business credit card, it can no longer be matched to Caesars.
MGM Gold via Royal Caribbean
MGM has continued to offer a 90-day match challenge for MGM Gold status at casino cages. That can work for a short-term method to get back on the matching bandwagon, since Caesars in Atlantic City is currently matching both new and existing Caesars members to Diamond from competing statuses like MGM Gold.
However, another path to MGM Gold that I learned from Traveling Well for Less’s YouTube channel exists for those with Royal Caribbean status.
Inside, Ocean View, and Balcony cabins on Royal Caribbean cruises earn 1 point per night. Suites earn 2 points per night. Emerald status is earned at 55 points (55 nights sailed in inside, ocean view, or balcony cabins, or even fewer if some sailings have been in suites). Those with Royal Caribbean Emerald status or higher can match to MGM Gold. The awesome thing about this match is that, since Royal Caribbean points/status never expire, it should be possible for someone with 55 lifetime nights on Royal Caribbean to match to MGM Gold again and again.
This match can be done in person at an MGM Casino, or it can be done online by emailing memberservices “at” mgmresorts.com. I believe you’ll need to email each year to re-match.
FoundersCard Wynn status to match in Vegas
If you have the full paid version of FoundersCard Elite, which varies in price significantly depending on how you sign up, you can access a match to Wynn Platinum status. My understanding is that unlocking regular Wynn Platinum status perks requires two separate qualifying two-night stays (and then that includes things like spa and dining credits, but not the Holland America cruise).
Still, if you find FoundersCard worthwhile for some other perk, this match could be worth it just to match to MGM Gold or Hard Rock Icon in Las Vegas for the purposes of matching those onward in Atlantic City to Ocean Prime.
Note that if you have any sort of complimentary FoundersCard membership, even one conferred as an elite status benefit from an airline, it does not include Wynn Platinum. That benefit only exists on paid-tier FoundersCard memberships.
Match to Ocean Prime status in Atlantic City for a free cruise opportunity
The status matches above primarily serve as on-ramps to get to Ocean Prime status with Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.
It is not possible to match either MGM Gold or Caesars Diamond to Ocean Prime. However, either MGM Gold or Caesars Diamond can match to Hard Rock Icon in Atlantic City. You can then bring your Hard Rock Icon card to Ocean Casino Resort to match to Ocean Prime. (Note that you’ll need to have had 24 months or more of inactivity on your Hard Rock and Ocean accounts to qualify for a match if you’re an existing player)
Once you have matched Ocean Prime status, you would need to earn 350 tier credits by gambling at Ocean to unlock a “free” cruise offer on Virgin Voyages. My understanding is that 350 tier credits should only take a few hours of moderate activity to reach. I’ve seen multiple people report having achieved the 350-tier credits with a loss of $150-$300. Your Mileage May Vary, though if you study how to maximize Video Poker, this can probably be accomplished with low expected loss.
Consider booking a complimentary Caesars Diamond Atlantis stay
Caesars Diamond members can book a complimentary 4-night stay at Atlantis Bahamas. This stay must be booked over the phone, and it may be subject to blackout dates. If you actually stay, you’ll be on the hook for resort fees (around $75 per night).
However, you might consider booking the Atlantis stay even if you don’t think you’ll use it. That’s because some direct cruise lines offer matches that can be made to land-based casino free night offers. It might be worth booking Atlantis just to get a screenshot of the booking confirmation showing the 4 complimentary nights. If you don’t actually want to go to Atlantis, you could always cancel your reservation later (provided you mind the cancellation policy for your booking).
Cruise line direct match opportunities for “free” cruises
Many cruise lines offer direct match opportunities, separate from land-based matches. In the beginning, it was possible to match Caesars Diamond to get complimentary cruise offers from some cruise lines. However, that eventually became difficult if you did not have additional land-based casino status and/or competing cruise line offers.
However, if you have had free cruise offers in the past and/or you have more than one land-based casino status, it can be worth taking a swing at a direct match with a cruise line. In many cases, you can upload more than one status or offer, so I would include any pertinent statuses and other free cruise offers, both past and present. In some cases, I have attached booking confirmation emails from complimentary cruises with competitors and/or multiple land-based casino statuses. As noted above, I have also attached my Atlantis Bahamas booking confirmation.
It is worth noting that most cruise lines want to see current offers, but I’ve found that attaching as much as possible doesn’t hurt, even if some of the attachments are older offers.
Carnival Fun match

Key Info: Share your loyalty card from other casinos and you could be eligible for great deals, including FREE‡ (‡excludes taxes, fees, and deposit) or discounted cruises, from Carnival Fun Match.
Thoughts: The Carnival Fun Match typically offers a complimentary interior or ocean view cabin, but if you wait, you may get a balcony cabin offer. Most regions around the world can be booked with this offer, but some cruises are excluded.
Holland America Match Program

Key Info: Upload other loyalty programs/offers. Can get up to 12 nights to Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, Coastal, and Canada/New England.
Thoughts: Holland America tends to cater to an older crowd and have ships with fewer bells and whistles, but they offer some interesting itineraries.
Margaritaville at Sea Offer Match

Key Info: I sent an old MSC free balcony booking, a couple of land-based casino statuses, and an Atlantis booking and got an offer for a complimentary Breezy Balcony on Islander good for up to 7 nights
Thoughts: I emailed the players club directly for Margaritaville at Sea and had success getting a complimentary cruise offer that we sailed a few months ago over New Year’s Eve. We really enjoyed Margaritaville at Sea, though if you prefer a cruise ship with rollercoasters, go-karts, and zip lines, this isn’t the cruise line for you. It is worth noting that earning elite status in Margaritaville at Sea’s new program is pretty easy, particularly if you focus your play on a single day. Silver status, which includes a free cruise, can be earned with just 400 points in a single day.
MSC Cruise Lines match for a free cruise without port taxes

Key Info: At MSC, free means free(er). You don’t pay port taxes. You do pay a deposit of $400 that you get back as free play (formerly onboard credit).
Thoughts: I haven’t loved MSC’s food, but their entertainment is great, and we have loved MSC’s European itineraries, through which we’ve visited quite a number of European cities that wouldn’t have otherwise been on our radar.
Norwegian Cruise Line First Cruise on the House

Key Info: The “first cruise on the house” offer is only available to those who have not sailed with Norwegian before. You can submit online with a casino offer from a land-based casino or competing cruise program and/or players card. I submitted a couple of previous complimentary cruise booking confirmations and a recent (expired) free cruise email offer. I got a “Free” interior cabin up to 14 nights anywhere in the world.
Thoughts: We booked a European itinerary with this offer (that we will sail later this year). Note that Norwegian charges an “administrative fee” for booking the free cruise offer of about $20 per person per night. That said, it is ordinarily possible to buy $500 worth of “CruiseFirst” credit for $250 (I did so on the phone when I made my initial deposit), which drops the out-of-pocket cost a bit. There is also a current Amex Offer for Norwegian at the time of writing.
Virgin Voyages Casino Player Inquiry

Key Info: If you have never sailed Virgin, you can upload a current offer with a complimentary room from a land-based casino, or a cabin/sailing offer from another cruise line.
Thoughts: Keep in mind that Virgin Voyages are adults-only cruises (18+). I believe that prepaid gratuities are included in the complimentary cruise offer. Unlike other cruise lines, Virgin asks you to rank specific sailings for your first choice and second choice at the time you submit for the match, so I believe that you’ll only be matched to a specific sailing (you’ll want to research ships and itineraries in advance). Cruises of up to 9 nights are included in the current options at the time of writing.
Gambling on board might yield a free cruise
Finally, it is worth stating the obvious: if you gamble on a cruise line, you can earn more free cruise offers. It is notable that it may require less gambling than you think.
For starters, a cruise line has a captive audience. While a Las Vegas casino might give you a free room offer only to have you leave and gamble at a different casino next door, cruise lines don’t have to worry about that. The incremental cost of an additional passenger or two is likely relatively low, and cruise lines face spoiling inventory on at least some of their cruises. It therefore probably takes less gambling on board than you imagine to trigger future offers.
That said, it will require some gambling to trigger free cruise offers. If you intend to pursue this path, I recommend setting a budget in advance for how much you are willing to lose and sticking to it. Be careful not to play with more than you can afford to lose!
Finally, it can be worth your while to spend some time learning strategies for amping up casino play without increasing your expected losses. Slot machines tend to count more heavily toward casino status and free cruise offers than table games. Certain games, such as video poker and video blackjack, have very low expected loss if played at optimal strategy, which can be learned with various training apps. Low expected loss can mean the ability to put more bets through the machine, which in turn can potentially help you earn points/status/offers. If you’re going to take this path, it makes sense to seek out additional resources for casino games with low expected loss.
For what it’s worth, I intend to experiment with this during a 10X Caesars event this year, so more on this to come. That said, there are plenty of established sites and YouTube channels that cover methods of earning Caesars Diamond in a Day and optimal casino strategies. Just keep in mind that if a game has a house edge of 1-2%, that represents the edge over an infinite number of bets. You could end up on the winning or losing end of variance, so be prepared for that.
