I (Nick) have been on vacation this week in gorgeous Lake Como at the almost incomparable Grand Hotel Victoria concept & spa, a Small Luxury Hotel of the World property that is bookable with World of Hyatt points. Dave Grossman of Miles Talk (the blog and Facebook group) is also at the Grand Hotel Victoria this week, so we decided to join forces and hop on Instagram at 12pm Eastern time on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Why? Mostly because we’re both here and figured this might be fun. We’ll talk about how we booked this property, how we earned the points, and what we think of the redemption and we will also field questions from viewers. This will be a casual chat where we discuss the pertinent bits from an award standpoint and probably touch on our impressions of the property, location, and surrounding area (or whatever you ask about!).
I reviewed the Grand Hotel Victoria last year (and posted in our Facebook group when a reader tipped me off to availability for this summer). This time around, I’ve been here for what will be my 4th night of five as I type this and for now I’ll say that my opinion of the place has not diminished. We’ll see what Dave thinks and how we both feel about it now that it has moved up in category as we discuss all of that during the live session.

Wow I was there from June 22-26; had two rooms for 5 guests total; was incredible; hotel is a hit and I think it will be harder to get in with points moving forward

Would love to hear some thoughts from the FM team on that on a future podcast. When you travel for your job how do you unplug from that to have a “vacation”? Stay at home (or an Airbnb if you’re a nomad) and do yard work?
