Get 10% in Airbnb credit on HotelTonight bookings

0

Airbnb owns last-minute-hotel-booking-platform Hotel Tonight. A few months ago, a new perk was announced for HotelTonight bookings: you can now get 10% back on HotelTonight bookings in the form of Airbnb credits. Even better, you can then stack those Airbnb credits from multiple HotelTonight bookings. That could make HotelTonight the online travel agency of choice for those who typically prefer vacation rentals.

The Deal

  • Hotel booking app HotelTonight now offers 10% back on stays (excluding taxes & fees) in the form of Airbnb credit

Quick Thoughts

I haven’t used HotelTonight in years, but many years ago I did sometimes find it useful for last-minute hotel bookings. While I recall the app only being able to make close-in bookings years ago, it looks like it may now vary by location. The first location I searched said that it could be booked up to 100 days in advance for stays of up to 14 nights, so I suppose it is a more broadly useful hotel booking platform these days.

You will of course want to comparison shop rates with other websites and consider portal rewards, etc. However, if prices were equal, I imagine some folks would be happy to earn 10% back in Airbnb credit, particularly on stays where elite night credit and benefits don’t matter.

All that said, I have to admit that I got a chuckle out of this partnership. One of the reasons that I rarely ever book Airbnbs is because of the stories I’ve heard of last-minute cancellations from hosts. Ironically, I could see this app being useful for Airbnb fans who get left out in the cold by a late host cancellation. I suppose if you really do prefer Airbnb, using this app in that type of situation (assuming you can’t find a replacement Airbnb) might have appeal.
