Airbnb Amex Offers: $50 back or 5k points when you spend $250+ (targeted)

9

There are several new Airbnb Amex Offers out today, the best of which give either 5,000 Membership Rewards points or $50 back when spending $250 or on vacation rentals.

I also have one that offers $30 back on the same $250 in spend; I assume that there’s a 3,000-point version as well.

The Deal

  • There are several new Amex Offers out when you add the offer you your card and spend $250 or more on Airbnb purchases:
    • $50
    • 5,000 Membership Rewards points
    • $30
    • 3,000 Membership Rewards points

Key Terms

  • Expires 5/5/2026.
  • Offer valid online only at US website airbnb.com or through the Airbnb mobile app.
  • Offer valid only on purchases made in US dollars.

Quick Thoughts

This is an excellent offer if you have it on any of your cards, as it’s usually difficult to save or earn significant amounts when paying for Airbnb stays. You can sometimes buy their gift cards at a 10% discount, but the best of these Amex Offers can be like saving 20% (or more, depending on how you value Membership Rewards).

The offer expires on May 5th, but you can easily use it to book a stay after that date to lock in the savings or bonus. Last I knew, Airbnb gift card purchases didn’t trigger Amex Offers. If someone discovers that they do, leave a comment and I’ll update this post.

Unfortunately not seeing the offer on either of my cards (amex gold, hilton $0 fee card). Is there a way that cardless cards like the avianca one can get amex offers? I basically live in airbnbs and would love to have this saving.

I have the $50 off and my P2 has the 20,000 point offer. Using card pointers, we have the offer on all of our Amex cards, but the language is a little different. On the $50 off, it says,”Limit of 1 statement credit per eligible Card Member account,” but on the 20K points it says, “Limit of 5,000 additional Membership Rewards® points per eligible Card Member,” but without the account language. So I guess I can only use it for one card for the points but multiple cards for the cash back?

Have the $50 off $250 on 7 different cards but not seeing 5,000 Amex MR as an option unfortunately. Oh well. And of course this comes two days after I paid for an airbnb stay on my Citi Strata Elite :(.

This came just in time to pay the balance on some bookings I’ve got. I chose the two balances that equaled closest to $250. I was a little leery at first since the offer was on my BBP which has foreign transaction fees, but I went back through my previous statements and found that my VX confirmed the merchant as US. Citi’s statement did not show it so plainly but I still found CA tacked onto the merchant name and I’m confident now that booking through Airbnb’s regular website shouldn’t trigger a foreign transaction fee. Either way, that fee on $250 would’ve been worth getting 5000 Amex points!

Nice! Note that Airbnb will charge a currency conversion fee if you book stay that uses a foreign currency but you pay Airbnb in USD. The way to avoid that is to change home currency in Airbnb to match the booking currency and use a card with no foreign transaction fee. However, it looks like this worked out well for you in getting the points.

In lieu of purchasing gift cards, I think you could book an airbnb for $250+, then cancel and choose to refund to your airbnb account rather than orginal form of payment.

Melissa

Does anyone know if this offer is only available for travel cards?

Ben

Looks like still the case (no gift cards). Purchase coded as Launch Gift Cards.

Does Airbnb code as hotel on biz gold card?
