Quick Thoughts

Getting $100 back on a $500 stay is a decent reward. If your stay is due to cost $1,000 or more and you have the offer on two or more cards in your household, ask the hotel to split the charge on those cards when you check out in order to earn two or more credits of $100.

Some people might be more keen on booking Omni stays nowadays than in the past due to the (extremely) limited opportunity where you could get free Champion status when transferring (now dead) Mesa points.

You might also come across Omni properties when searching for stays using the up to $600 prepaid hotel credit semi-annually which is valid on Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) and The Hotel Collection bookings—a benefit on the American Express Platinum Card® and Business Platinum Card®. I don’t believe any Omni Hotels and Resorts are part of FHR, but there are almost 30 properties in the US and Canada that are part of The Hotel Collection. The Hotel Collection stays require a minimum two night stay, but quite a few properties have dates available where the $300 twice-annual credit will cover much of the cost of a two night stay depending on your stay dates.

While the Amex Offer won’t be triggered by a reservation under The Hotel Collection due to that being processed by Amex Travel, it will work if you use that card when checking in to cover payment for room charges like meals, parking, spa treatments, etc. As a reminder, you don’t have to check in with a consumer Platinum or Business Platinum card; it just has to be any Amex card in your name. That means it’s not an issue if you want to pay for the initial stay with a Platinum or Business Platinum card to take advantage of the hotel credit, then use a different card if this Omni Amex Offer isn’t on one of those, or because you want to put those charges on an Amex card that also bonuses for accommodation/travel spending.
