Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
20% off Disney, Amazon, BP, Southwest, and much more…
A few days ago, I showed some of the latest and best Amex Sync Offers including $10 back when you spend $50 or more at Lowe’s (see “20% off Lowe’s, Zappos, Crate & Barrel, and more”). A great option is to go to Lowe’s and buy gift cards $50 at a time. That way, you’ll get 20% off any gift card you can find (via a $10 statement credit from Amex). Yesterday I stopped by my local Lowe’s store to see exactly which gift cards they had in stock, and I found a few gems.
The Amex Sync Offer for Lowe’s is good until May 31 2014 so there’s time to get additional Amex cards before then. Every Amex card you have, including authorized user cards (which are usually free) and Serve cards (but not other prepaid Amex cards) can be enrolled in offers like these. If you do not see the offer in the “Offers for You” section when you log into your account, you can enroll via Twitter instead by syncing your card to Twitter and then tweeting #AmexLowes. Please see “Maximizing Amex Sync offers. Part 1: sync multiple cards” for full details. Keep in mind that you can only get one $10 credit from each Amex card for Lowes purchases.
When buying gift cards at Lowes, have all of your registered Amex cards at the ready and ask to pay $50 at a time. That way, you’ll earn the $10 credit from each card and maximize your savings. Yesterday, as a test, I brought four $50 gift cards to the register and asked to checkout each one separately. I used a different Amex card for each purchase. Moments later, I received four emails from Amex thanking me for using my synced card. If history is any guide, I should see the statement credits appear on my account in a few days.
Two alternatives to using Amex cards are the Chase Freedom and Discover It cards. Both have rotating 5X categories and both are offering 5X at Lowes this quarter. Both limit the bonus to $1500 per spend each quarter. While these cards do not offer as much of a discount as Amex cards, they’re much easier since you do not need to split up the purchase into multiple $50 transactions.
So, now, without further ado, here are all of the gift cards I found…
Disney!
I’ve never noticed this one before. This is a rare opportunity to get up to 20% off any spend at Disney. I don’t see any restrictions against using it to pay for theme park tickets so I expect that would work. It looks like you could even use these to help pay for a Disney Cruise.

Regarding Marriott gift cards: They seem to have disappeared everywhere. A friend found some still in local stores, but they couldn’t be activated at the register. Makes me think that Marriott has pulled them altogether.
.
Regarding alternate user cards: If you have the card setup to view online, you can often sign up for offers right from there just like any other card. If the offers do not show up, or you do not have online access to the AU card, simply sync the card to your any Twitter account (it can be your own account even if the card is not in your name) and tweet #AmexLowes. If you’ve done so before, Twitter may not allow you to do a duplicate tweet so tack on something else like “#Amex Lowes 123”
