There is a new spending offer on Amex Hilton cards that gives 3,000 bonus points for spending $1500 on a targeted card. As opposed to most Hilton Amex Offers that only reward spending at Hilton properties, this one is for general spending on a Hilton Amex. You can trigger the offer up to three times for a maximum total of 9,000 bonus Hilton Honors points.
This doesn’t seem to be widely targeted. My wife and I have four Hilton cards between us and were only targeted on one.
The Deal
- Targeted Amex Hilton Offer: Spend $1500 in one or more purchases and get 3,000 bonus points.
- Can be used up to 3x
- Must register before starting spend
Key Terms
- Expires October 25th, 2023.
- Only purchases made within 90 days of registration count towards offer
- Valid only on purchases made in US dollars
Quick Thoughts
It’s been a long time since I remember seeing a spending bonus on a Hilton card. On this one, hitting exactly $1500 spend effectively gives you an additional 2x earning. We value Hilton Honors points at ~.48 cents each, so the additional 2x adds up to a whopping .96% of additional return.
That may not sound like much, but I was targeted on a Hilton Surpass card, which earns 6x on grocery and gas. I’m still plugging away on $15,000 in spend a for free night certificate (FNC) and I try to do as much of the $15K as possible those two categories, so that I end up with close to 90,000 points and a FNC for my $15k. Adding this bonus to it means that I’m now getting 8x on both and will end up with an additional 9,000 points (assuming that I can do all $4500 within the next 90 days). That’s a nice little sweetener for spend that I was going to do already.
After reading this I looked at my AmEx Aspire and saw..”spend $3000 in 90 days, get $13,000”
back in the wallet you go!
Checked for this and didn’t see it on my Hilton card, but checked my Marriott card and had a spend $7k and get 10k Bonvoy points.
TIM, I know you are a big guy, like me, Big Ern Mckracken. But I doubt you are buying $4500 of food at the grocery. Are you buying giftcards too?
The entire Steinke Nation awaits your reply with bated breath.
Thank you in advance. B.E.K.
Your silence is deafing and I with take that as a yes. Thank you Tim
What is the deal with these spend serious amounts and get a rounding error’s worth of points. Better book by 2PM because by 3PM the room will be exactly 3000 more points – up from 80000 points per night for that DoubleTree to 83000 now. Oops!
Do these terrible offers actually motivate anyone?
