Update: There is now a public landing page. See link under “The Deal” below. YMMV — you still need to work for a “qualifying company”, but there isn’t a list. It’s probably worth trying if you have a corporate email address. Apparently, Frequent Miler doesn’t count. H/T: Deals We Like

Hyatt is offering some members a targeted fast-track offer to get temporary Explorist status for 90 days with paths for status through February 2021: complete 10 nights in 90 days to maintain Explorist status or complete 20 nights in 90 days to receive Globalist status. This is surely highly targeted (most likely for people who work for certain companies, but there is not a known list, so YMMV), but the nice thing is that the email indicates that you need to register by November 29, 2019 to participate, meaning that this fast-track opportunity should be around all year.

I got lucky and scored a great upgrade to this premium suite at the Park Hyatt New York as a Globalist a couple of years ago.

The Deal

  • Hyatt is offering a highly targeted fast-track to status that grants temporary Explorist status for 90 days with the ability to maintain status through February 2021 by meeting the following requirements:
    • Stay 10 qualifying nights within 90 days of registration to maintain Explorist status
    • Stay 20 qualifying nights within 90 days of registration to receive Globalist status
  • Update: Direct link to register (open to qualifying companies only — must have a corporate email address)

Key Details

  • Register by November 29, 2019
  • Complete qualifying activity within 90 days of registration

Quick Thoughts

Jen at Deals We Like notes that her husband got targeted for this offer via an email from a sales representative at a hotel he’ll be staying at soon (see her post for a screen shot of the email text). That’s notable and interesting because it suggests that the property itself may have some ability to extend these offers. We’ve seen similar offers targeted to customers in Asia working for specific companies and I’d have previously assumed that these offers were only available to those working for targeted companies (and that such offers would likely be available through the HR department of qualifying entities). I’d more likely expect that is the case here as well and that a fast track won’t be available for the vast majority of customers.

That said, registration requires contacting “your Hyatt hotel sales representative”, so I think it’s at least theoretically possible that sales managers are given some latitude here. As Jen notes, if you’ve got a decent chunk of upcoming business at a specific Hyatt property, it might not hurt to reach out to a sales representative and see if something like this is available. The worst they’ll say is no.

Keep in mind that you would not receive the “milestone benefits” that are ordinarily earned through stays. That is to say that you would not get the Cat 1-7 free night or the suite upgrade awards that are great benefits of earning Hyatt status the old fashioned way. Of course, having Globalist status might make it easier to complete the stays you’ll need to earn those things at 60 nights.

A possibly interesting play here would be completing the challenge at the end of the window. If you were to register near the end of November and complete the required stays in January/February 2020 (within 90 days of registration), you’d have Globalist status early in the year and also be 1/3 of the way to re-qualifying through February 2022.

Again, this is likely highly targeted and not available for most readers, but it might be worth a shot (or worth checking with your company’s HR / travel department to see if any such opportunities are known to be available to employees).

I have 2 legit Corp email addresses but neither are accepted. The error requested “your corporate email address.” They must be truly limiting the offer to specific corporations.

My corporate email worked. The landing page T&C notes only ‘…employed by McKinsey are eligible to participate’. I don’t work for McKinsey, but maybe gives a clue who they’re shooting for.

How long did it take to receive the email?

Simon

Right away

I was targeted at the end of February to do the 90 days to Globalist from 1 Mar to 31 May. I’m Explorist right now. I work for a university, not a large corporate entity. I’m going to make it by the skin of my teeth I think. I hope others get the same chance

Do we know if award nights count as qualifying nights? I’m thinking they probably do but just wanted to double check.

[…] Finally, it appears as though there may be a fast track to Hyatt Elite Status for targeted members. I wish we’d fallen into this category, but if nothing else I have a hack I’m working on to get to Explorist with only one night so far.
