Hyatt Spring Promo: Earn 3k points every 3 nights (registration now live)

11

Hyatt has launched a new promotion which, as per usual, they’re calling Bonus Journeys. Unfortunately, like Hyatt’s most recent seasonal promotions, it manages to straddle that hard-to-define line between “meh” and “lame.” In fact, it’s almost identical to the promo that they ran at the end of last year.

Registration for this promotion is now live.

Quick Thoughts

The primary promotion works out to be 1,000 bonus points per night for every three nights that you stay, but the points are only awarded every three nights. So, if you only stay one or two nights before the promotion ends, you’ll be out of luck.

The second part offers 1,000 bonus points for every three nights you stay at select properties if you’re a cardholder. The downside is that it’s only available for foreign locations, as opposed to the version last Fall which had some US properties as well (the full list of participating hotels can be found here).

You can earn a maximum of 21,000 total points for the main part of this promotion and 7,000 for the second, so each one is valid on up to 21 nights on stays between 3/1 – 4/30, 2024.

Not. Terribly. Exciting.

It should be said that this could make mattress running for Globalist ~30% cheaper for those that have it in their plans. If you reserved off-peak category 1 hotels in three night increments during the promo, the 1,000 points you earn per night would reduce the per-night cost from 3,500 points/night to 2,500 points/night. Some folks will find that to be a cost worth paying for the elite nights.

If I have two nights already booked, should I cancel and rebook after I register?

UrbanDweller

Shouldn’t be necessary per the terms. It’s when you actually complete the stay. Make sure you complete the registration before your stays.

Since we can’t see the terms yet, do you know if a stay that starts within the promo period but checkout is after the promo end date will count. In other words, if we check in April 27th and check out May 2nd, will the first couple of night count, or do we need to check out on the 30th?

It seems that nights, not stays trigger the points, so we’re probably safe checking out on May 2, but it would be a bummer to miss out on the points for something avoidable.

So even if you book with points you will get the bonus or just on paid stays?

Do you have to actually use the card for payment to receive the additional bonus, or just be a card holder? I have some stays in Vietnam coming up during the bonus dates, but won’t be using the card to pay for them.

Pretty convenient that I’ve got 5 Cat 1 Hyatts in driving distance and none of them has a single Off-peak day during the promotion (and only <20 off-peak days in the whole year)…

doesnt matter if the stays are broken up into 1 night or 2 night stays right? just every 3 stays it complete within period gets the 3k bonus points?
