IHG has opened registration for their next promotion which is giving 2,000 bonus points for every couple of nights you stay. That’s far from being their most rewarding promo ever, but it’s worth registering nonetheless just in case you end up having a paid stay during the promotion period.
The Deal
- Earn 2,000 bonus points with IHG One Rewards for every two nights you stay.
- Direct link to registration.
Key Terms
- To participate in the “2,000 Points Every 2 Nights” Promotion (the “Promotion”), an individual must have an active, valid IHG One Rewards member account and must register for the Promotion. Members can pre-register for this Promotion from 20th March 2024 until 31st March 2024 (the “Pre-Registration Period”). Members will be able to stay and earn IHG One Rewards bonus points under this Promotion beginning 1st April 2024 and ending on 31st May 2024 (the “Promotion Period”). Members who did not register during the Pre-Registration Period may register for the Promotion during the Promotion Period. A member can only register once. By registering for the Promotion, a member accepts these Terms & Conditions.
- After registering for the Promotion, a member can earn 2,000 bonus points for every two (2) qualifying room night stays during the Promotion Period. The points earned during the 2,000 Points Every 2 Nights Promotion can be used toward Reward Nights, can be redeemed for merchandise or can be used for other redemption opportunities, as permitted under the IHG One Rewards programme. The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for any earned bonus points to be posted to the recipient’s account.
- To be a qualifying room night under the Promotion, the room night must fall within the Promotion Period and must be part of a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay. As stated, the “Promotion Period” is from 1st April 2024 until 31st May 2024. Room nights outside of the Promotion Period are not included, and room nights that are part of a stay that was completed prior to registration for the Promotion also are not included.
- For purposes of this Promotion, a “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay” is defined as a minimum one (1) night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night.
- Stays booked using Rewards Nights or Points & Cash are not Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays for purposes of this Promotion.
- Bookings made through online travel agencies or other reservation sites such as Booking.com or Expedia.com also do not qualify under this Promotion. (For additional details on Qualifying Rates, please see the full IHG One Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions.)
- If more than one member who registered for the Promotion checks into the same room, only one member is eligible to earn points under the Promotion for those nights that qualify. If a member books more than one room on the same night, the member will receive credit towards this Promotion for only one of the rooms that also meets the requirements of a qualifying room night under the Promotion.
Quick Thoughts
IHG frequently sells its points for 0.5cpp. That means that 2,000 points can often be bought for $10, so earning that number of points for every two nights you stay isn’t very rewarding. However, it’s always worth taking a few seconds to register for promotions such as these just in case you find yourself booking a paid stay with IHG in April or May.
While these bonus points aren’t going to be enough to move the needle to make it worth booking paid stays with IHG, there are usually additional ways to get rewarded that can make it more worthwhile. You earn 10 points per dollar as standard at most of their brands, as well as bonus points if you have status with them. Paying with an IHG Premier or Business credit card earns you an additional 10 points per dollar, while there are also often high cashback rates available through shopping portals. In fact, at the time of publishing this I’d just gotten a targeted email from Capital One Shopping offering 12% cashback on IHG bookings. We’ve also recently seen quite a few Chase Offers for IHG, some for IHG overall, while others have been for specific brands. There’s also a new IHG Amex Offer giving $50 back when spending $250 at some of their brands.
Depending on which IHG brand you’d be staying at, there are also a couple of other promos that’ll stack with each other:
- Earn 40k bonus points every 4 nights at Iberostar properties
- Earn 3x points at select brands (Avid, Atwell Suites, Garner & EVEN)
Thanks for posting this. I always try to keep up with these offers but sometimes I miss the emails from IHG.
