Quick Thoughts
These increased offers are occasionally available on a targeted basis, but it’s great see see these 25K and 30K offers available publicly via referral again.
While my first choice out of Membership Rewards cards right now would probably be the Amex Gold card, these offers on the Everyday and Everyday preferred are still strong considering the earning structures if you hit the minimum number of transactions.
With no annual fee, the Everyday card is an easy keeper — especially since Amex overhauled the referral system to enable you to refer someone from your current Amex card to any card. In other words, it’s an easy card to justify holding since it has no fee and will enable you to generate referral links for friends and family in the future.
The Everyday Preferred can be great for those who can easily meet the minimum of 30 transactions per month to trigger the bonus on points earned and then take advantage of the boost on category bonuses — just keep in mind the annual cap on the US Supermarket bonus.
Keep in mind that Amex typically excludes you from earning the welcome bonus on a card if you have or have had that card before (regardless of whether or not you received a new cardmember bonus), so if you’ve ever had either of these cards you will most likely not be eligible for the welcome bonus again on that specific card (though you can get the bonus one time each on the Everyday and Everyday Preferred card, so if you’ve had one but not the other this may be an offer worth considering). Also keep in mind that you should limit your spending activity to ordinary purchases during the minimum spending requirements; Amex has been known to claw back bonuses from those who make obvious purchases of gift cards.
Overall, it’s always great to see more points on the table, so increased offers are a welcome sight.
Wish they’d up the Blue Business plus card, too. Though, I think it’s currently 15K per referral with the card applier getting 10K. The 15K is up from 10K. But I’d like more!!! LOL. Want to pick up this card for SO.
This article is incorrect. Amex will deny you the bonus on the Everyday if you’ve had the Everyday Preferred or vice versa. Since 2019 Amex considers it the same family of cards.
That’s not correct; Amex is non per-card family. It’s per card. You get one shot at ED and one shot at EDP.
How do you refer for the card if you have Amex cards, but not have the Everyday card?
