I frequently read posts or articles that make me think “gee, I should write up something about this.” But, more often than not, I don’t. Here’s a collection of posts and articles from the past couple of weeks that I really should have written about…
Deals We like says that we can “Spend 3 Nights in Chicago and Get a $150 Amex Statement Credit”. I can’t help but wonder if this can be used to help tackle the IHG Into the Nights promo. Anyone try this?
Speaking of the IHG promo, Loyalty Traveler tells us why IHG could use some help with their IT: Dealing with IHG Into the Nights Fiasco.
From the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, Four defendants plead guilty to a form of double-dipping that I don’t recommend. This one involves using MoneyPaks more than once with the same funds.
From Engadget: Drug stores drop Apple Pay and Google Wallet to push their own payment tech. CVS and Rite Aid, in particular, don’t want you to be convenienced with a standard pay-by-phone solution. Boo.
The Points Guy wrote: BarclayCard Launches AAdvantage Aviator Silver Card. Basically, BarclayCard will be offering a high-end American Airlines card as an upgrade to cardholders of their current card. Their current card, of course, is the US Airways card which will become the AAdvantage Aviator Red card in 2015. The nice thing about the Silver card is that it will offer another way to manufacture elite status (up to 10K EQMs). The bad thing about it is… well, its expensive and has few notable benefits.
PF Digest writes “Why falling gas prices are good news for Marathon Visa cardholders.” Who wouldn’t want to earn 8% to 10% when buying gas and other goodies?
Travel Codex tells us that Alaska Airlines Is Now Offering Status Matches to MVP Gold 75K. I would be very tempted if I ever flew Alaska Airlines.
Such a pleasure to meet you and your spouse on our ride to the Botanical Gardens this AM….I am now signed up and look forward to this more than excellent website…
Best

why is it that I get 6 copies of each one of your tweets?
Something very weird is going on with my Twitter account. People who subscribe to mobile alerts are sometimes getting 6 alerts instead of one even though I only published one tweet. I have no idea how to stop it! I’ll contact Twitter for help.
Hey you’re just like everyone else in the world who never fly “Alaskan” Airlines. Pretty sure there’s no airline by that name.
Apparently they’re all the rave on the West Coast.
Fixed
Not having a standard pay-by-phone solution is probably more consumer friendly because it may force them to compete on price.
