Quick Thoughts
These MGM Resorts Amex Offers have historically been around perpetually, although during the pandemic there were understandably some gaps where these offers weren’t available.
If you’re planning a trip to Vegas or one of the handful of other eligible casino properties around the country, these offers are a great way to save up to 20%. Note that the two offers are eligible at different sets of brands – the $300/$60 offer is good at MGM’s cheaper properties, while the $500/$100 is valid for stays at their luxury brands.
To give an example of how far you could stretch one of these offers, I found a five night stay at Excalibur costing $27.45 per night in October.
That’s the base room rate, so you also have to factor in the resort fee of $35 per night. When doing that, your room total comes to $312.25, so enough to trigger the $60 statement credit. That means your net cost would be $252.25 or an average of $50.45. That’s good, although it does mean you’d have to stay at Excalibur.
Bear in mind that the cost of your room rate doesn’t necessarily have to hit the $300 or $500 thresholds. That’s because charges to your room are also eligible for these offers – even if they’re charges at other MGM Resorts properties. For example, you could eat at Aria’s buffet and charge it to your room at Bellagio to contribute towards the $300 spend threshold for the non-luxury Amex Offer.
If you want to take advantage of one or both of these Amex Offers but they’re not on the card you want to load them to, try using the links to the Amex Connect site above as those might allow you to select the particular card you want to use.
Is there any way to merge these with other FHR while still getting Hyatt elite night credit? I had two MGM stays last month through FHR and neither of them gave me elite nights. I spoke to Hyatt on Twitter and they said you can only get points and no elite nights on FHR rates. And none of the MGM properties in FHR has a ‘Pay at the Hotel’ option
