Quick Thoughts
This deal wasn’t listed in their weekly ad, but Miles To Memories has reported that signs are being seen in Office Depot stores advertising this offer.
This is a great way to rack up some 5x / 5% spending if you have a card that earns at a higher rate at office supply stores. The best way to max out this offer is to buy two $200 Mastercard gift cards. Those come with a $6.95 activation fee, so you’ll make a profit of $1.10 along with the 5x / 5% spending.
In the past, several readers have reported issues relating to balances on these Mastercard gift cards being drained quickly, so be aware that there could be issues. It’d therefore be best to use up the balances on these cards ASAP in case the cards you buy are compromised. Be sure to keep all your receipts in case you’re unlucky enough to have that happen to you.
Office Depot has been known to pull these types of promotions early, so take advantage of this offer sooner rather than later if you’re interested.
What are current liquidation strategies for these MGC? I’ve read that Walmart isn’t working anymore for many people. I’ve also read that buying a MO at Publix supermarkets works. Any thoughts?
Can i use sapphire preferred to buy this to meet 4k spend limit for the bonus?
In theory, yes. Amex cards are a strict no-no, but Chase cards you should be OK.
When I was in store, the offer shown in-store explicitly excluded variable load gift cards. The Office Depot I was at only had $25, $50, $100, and $20-$200 variable cards. I tried it anyways with 2 $200 cards and it didn’t give the $15 automatically when it rang up. However, the store manager came over and did an override to still give it to me even though the terms disallowed it. YMMV.
Good DP. My Office Max had $200 fixed-value cards.
Would this work with the Plastiq promo of $250 no fee using Mastercard ? So theoritically, I can use Plastiq to pay $400 towards my mortgage($200 each payment). I can repeat this as many times I want until Sep 30.
Yes, that should be possible.
Any news on whether the same pos glitch of the last 2 promos is occurring again? Just a simple yes or no will be good. No need to spoil the deal….
I’m afraid I’m not sure.
No.. $398.90
