Office Depot and OfficeMax stores have returned with its profitable gift card deal on Mastercard gift cards from 11/17/24 to 11/23/24.
The Deal
- Buy $300+ Mastercard gift cards at Office Depot/OfficeMax & get $15 off instantly.
Key Terms
- Valid November 17 – November 23, 2024.
- Limit 10 per household/business (different stores may try to impose various limits that don’t correspond to the ad).
Quick Thoughts
As always with these deals, the best option is to buy in three card increments as Office Depot/Max gives a $15 discount for every $300 you spend. So, buying three cards means you’re spending $600, which takes off $30. Buying nine cards means you should get $90 off, but YMMV as to whether a store will let you do that.
For every three cards you buy you’ll pay $23.85 in fees (3x$7.95), giving you a net $6.15 in profit in addition to any additional rewards. Buying nine cards at a time triples both the profit and rewards (but will likely involve an ID check to make sure that the payment that you’re using is yours).

local office depot stores are out of stock, either they truly run out of product or neglect to fill up from the box inside of gift card area. it is getting more and more frequent, maybe purchasing gift card is over for northern virginia.
I bot more MC gift cards this morning. I believe that the points and miles folks are active in your area.
yep too much competition for sure and another OD store just announced they are closing..sigh.. one less store..
it might just be the gift card vendor that does not bring inventory to the store.
My OD did not have any signage up on Monday morning. Discount did trigger at POS terminal.
I just had this happen
i am trying to find this deal on the Office Depot website and cannot. I went into the store to inquire about it, and they do not have any weekly fliers and the staff were unaware of the deal. All they had were Visa cards, not the MasterCards. Other than this frequentmiler website, i don’t know how to validate the deal is real.
Ring them up at cashier. If it doesn’t ring up at the desired price, cancel transaction
The deal is back today.
Confirmed. Also, good change that next week will be their Visa offer.
Pathward MC gift card is no longer plastic. they are thicker paper.
Does this work to purchase online? All of the Office Depot/Max stores in my area have closed (seems to be a common problem) Thanks!
The deal is only in-store. Also from what I’ve heard, buying gift cards online from OD/OM is redirected to a third party (that does not code as office supply store) that fulfills the online order and you’re not actually purchasing from OD/OM. In case you we’re trying to use a certain credit card.
Here in Portland, It is a waste of time to try and even get these or the Visa cards anymore.
Office Depot/Max has closed several stores in the Metro Area. And the Two that are left never have the cards, even on the 1st day of the event!
I’ll be closing my Ink card, which was offering 5points per dollar, not worth the $95.00 annual fee anymore.
Don’t close. Just downgrade. Your credit score would be affected if you close it.
Your ink card giving 5 points per dollar doesn’t have an annual fee. And I agree, living in Portland is a waste of time 😉
Yea if you have an ink preferred with $95 annual fee, that is not the 5x one.
The Ink cash card is the 5x at supply stores and has a $0 AF, no need to cancel that one (unless trying to apply for new card and wanting to open up credit limit w/Chase to accomodate new card).
In regards to cancelling an ink preferred, FICO score would not be affected since this is a business card correct, Nick? Or still a good idea to try to downgrade biz cards in general (though dont think chase lets you for this card) if there is some credit score tied to your business/LLC?
Once again, too late. Already all sold on Sunday.
People usually really slow on buying Mastercards. A lot of folks still scared of them. Surprised your town sells out so quickly.
Well… apparently, not in my neighborhood. Either Visa or Mastercard, they are all gone on the 1st day of sales.
Just picked up a couple $200 MC GC and the fee is now $7.95 per card. No longer profitable.
Really? They been that for a few months at least. Are you using a 5x card? buy 3 of them at once and you’ll come out way ahead in pts and $$
You are right. I should’ve bought 3 GC. This is the first time at this store I have had the higher fees. There is not much traffic at this store anytime I have been there.
how does buying 3 works better?
If you buy 2 you get a $15 “rebate”. If you buy 3, you get a $30 “rebate”
Hi, by “rebate” this still comes off the purchase price as checkout correct? There is no actual rebate form to mail back or anything lol? Havent done this for a while but now looking to do it to liquidate on quarterly tax estimates. TIA
Correct.. it comes off of the purchase price.
Nick,
I found out about the sale “accidentally” on Sunday when it started. I was thinking it might be time for it and I had guessed right. How can we let you know about it in the future?
Is this deal coming back this week 6/2-6/8?
Is there a trick to spending these online? I registered at the giftcardmall website, but I still can’t get WM to process it.
MC do not work at WM
Just a data point in case anyone else has the same question. I was able to use my MasterCard gift cards from OfficeMax at Walmart but only when I added them as a payment method to my wallet. If I went through the process flow of buy a gift card and adding a payment at checkout they failed.
Why does this usually get posted late compared to staples deals?
Because they don’t publish the deal in a weekly flyer, so the only way to know about it is when we hear from a reader or catch a report of it somewhere (and there are no longer any Office Depot / Office Max stores anywhere in my area, so this isn’t one I’d stumble on accidentally).
So what should my total receipt say if I buy Nine cards? I get different amounts sometimes.
$1781.55, the fact that i have that number memorized gives me strange feelings
Classic!
Hahah very nice
thank you, i dropped what i was doing and immediately went when i read this
Your Doctor of Credit was wrong about that expiration date….
Sale was over Saturday day night…
Lying Doctors!!!
