Radisson Rewards Americas & Radisson Rewards Running Different Promos

4

It’s now been a few weeks since the Radisson Rewards program split in two, becoming Radisson Rewards Americas for residents and properties in the US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean and plain old Radisson Rewards for the rest of their international members and properties.

We’ve covered these changes in a few posts already:

One thing that hadn’t been clear at first was whether Radisson Rewards Americas and Radisson Rewards would offer the same promotions. We got an indication recently that their promotions wouldn’t cross over seeing as the latest Radisson Rewards Americas promo was only valid for properties in the US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, but we now have further confirmation that promotions between the two regions will be different.

The latest Radisson Rewards Americas promotion offers double points on all stays through September 12, while Radisson Rewards has opened registration for a promotion running July 1 to September 30 which offers 1,000 bonus points per night with no limit on how many bonus points you can earn. Well, they list a cap of 100,000 bonus points but with only 92 days during the promotion period, it’s unlikely that you’ll hit that cap.

What initially seemed interesting is that the description of the Radisson Rewards 1k points promotion states the following (my bolding):

To be eligible for the Promotion, you must: (i) Be a Radisson Rewards member (“Member”); (ii) Register online here for the Promotion prior to booking the Eligible Booking (to become an “Eligible Member”) and (iii) All Eligible Bookings must be held between July 1, 2021, and September 30, 2021 (“Promotion Period”). The Promotion is available at all Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson hotels worldwide (collectively, “Participating Properties”).

The fact that they say ‘worldwide’ and that the terms of the promo don’t list stays in the US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean as being excluded makes it sound like you could earn 1,000 bonus points per night for stays at Radisson Rewards Americas properties. In reality though, I don’t think that’s the case. If you try booking a stay at a Radisson Rewards Americas property while logged in to a regular Radisson Rewards account, you’ll be redirected to RadissonHotelsAmericas.com and you’ll have to book there using a Radisson Rewards Americas account. You therefore can’t pick and choose promotions as to which will be the most rewarding – you simply have to go with whichever promotion is running in the region where you want to book a stay.

On that note, if you’re wanting to book a stay outside of the Radisson Rewards Americas region, you’ll want to set up an account with Radisson Rewards using the same email address as the one registered with them for your Americas account. That’s because Radisson has a Global Points Transfer form you can complete to transfer points for free between your two accounts, but your name and email address have to match exactly.

A useful post. Another one would be to clarify if and how someone assigned to the US camp (despite the fact that I have addresses in both Europe and Asia too) can 1) change their program and 2) apply points to any hotel, regardless of which program they find themselves in.

If you need any ideas for a new post, I’d love a “checklist” of sorts that I can follow through to get this Radisson mess all aligned again (something where I can follow instructions that say 1) if you have this account, then <log in link>, 2) create account, etc.). If you include “what to do on AwardWallet”, then all the better.

What you did for the “if you just got a platinum card” kind of thing.

This whole split has been one royal mess so far. I had made reservations for December 2021 long before this split was announced. Now I can no longer see those reservations in either of the Radisson rewards. When I call up they can see it but they cant assign it to Radisson rewards(Rest of the world) or RRAmericas, which means if I have to modify or cancel, I can’t get the points back to any of my accounts. Atleast that’s what rest of the world customer service thinks. Their customer service really needs help.

I’m going to stay away from this Radisson Rewards until things are sorted out.
