Quick Thoughts

15% cashback is a fantastic rate for many of these retailers, especially if your Rakuten account is set up to earn Membership Rewards as it means you’ll be earning 15x Membership Rewards which are worth even more than 15% cashback.

Here are just some of the notable retailers earning 15%:

  • IHG
  • Best Western
  • Viator
  • Dell
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Saks Fifth Avenue
  • Bloomingdale’s
  • Gap
  • GameStop
  • Nike
  • Groupon

To give a sense of how good the 15% rate is, Bed Bath & Beyond hasn’t been higher than 10% on any shopping portal in the last 15 months and even then that’s only been for 12 days during that 15 month period. GameStop hasn’t been higher than 6% during that same 15 month period either, so the opportunity to earn 15%/15x is awesome.

These rates are perfect if you have Amex Platinum credits to burn because both Dell (on Business Platinum cards) and Saks (on personal Platinum cards) are at 15%/15x with this sale.

IHG’s brands and Best Western being at 15%/15x is a spectacular return too if you’re planning on booking any paid stays with them. Be aware that you only have to book the stays while the 15% rate is in force – stays don’t have to be completed by May 17. If you have any potential stays within the next year (or however far out they allow you to book) where the rate is refundable, it could be worth making those reservations now while the cashback rate is so high because you could always cancel them if need be. Note that the cashback/Membership Rewards won’t become payable until after your stay, but it should still track at 15%/15x – take screenshots to be safe though.

There are reports that some targeted Rakuten customers are seeing rates of 20% for some or all of the eligible retailers, so be sure to check your account because that’s even more incredible.

Another great feature of this sale is that Rakuten is offering 15%/15x for their in-store card-linked offers too. The selection of in-store retailers isn’t as wide as online, but it does include stores like H&M, Aeropostale, Adidas, New Balance and Sally Beauty.

Were these for a day only during the week? I had one store (in addition to Dell) that I wanted to buy from and was 15% but now down to 2%. Pretty bummed!

Captain Greg

WTH? Both Saks and Dell are back to 2%….

Captain Greg

Will Saks Off 5th count for the Amex credit? They are still at 15% off

Wondering if this would cover Ubereats and Doordash gift cards at Gamestop

Christine B

JC Penny stack with the 20% Chase offer. I already used my Chase offer in-store to buy gift cards, but need to check P2. They often have good prices on higher end shampoo/conditioner which you can then pick up in store or have shipped.

Jay

Bed bath and beyond is up to 6%

Having a brain lock here. On the 15% cash back… is this the same as 15x points? Assuming I’m getting Membership Rewards points instead of money, if I spend $1, do I get 15 points in return?
Thanks
