From November 8, 2015 through November 14, 2015, Rite-aid is offering 500 Plenti points ($5) with the purchase of 2 Vanilla Visa gift cards. There is a limit of 2 offers per Plenti card. You can see the promotion listed in their weekly ad.

Each variable load Vanilla Visa gift card can be loaded with up to $500 for a fee of $4.95. Subtracting out the Plenti points, this brings the total cost to about .5% of the face value.

Vanilla Visas aren’t as easy as other gift cards to liquidate. For more information on liquidating these cards, see: Beginner’s Guide to Liquidating Visa & Mastercard Gift Cards.

My local Rite aid does allow credit card. However, they enforce two new rules for the past two months. First , any VGC purchase must use a credit card with chip, thus AGCs is not allowed anymore(no chip). Second, the maximum GC transaction is limited to $500 thus I cannot purchase two $500 VGCs at the same transaction and cannot get 500 Plenti Points anymore.

Rite aid has a new corporate policy not to allow visa purchases with credit card, as of two months ago. Not sure if it’s enforced across all stores, but be aware.
