Quick Thoughts

Saks is obviously on the pricey end of the spectrum, but I’ve used some of our credits in the past for beauty / grooming items, whether skin care for my wife or the Jack Black shave oil that I’ve been using for many years. Getting 15% off those things means we can stretch the $50 semi-annual credit (which is available once from January to June and once from July to December on consumer Platinum cards) to buy a bit more.

In fact, this will work out well for me. That Jack Black shave oil that I use (and need to restock) typically costs the same $35 anywhere I buy it. With the 15% off code, two bottles comes to $59.50 — and it even comes with a free gift with $20 purchase. That works out to less than I’d ordinarily pay for this even before considering 15x Membership Rewards points from Rakuten and the $50 Platinum card credit.

We have a few Platinum cards in my household and will likely also get some gifts from the beauty section with today’s sale.

Doesn’t work for Chanel products.

Hopefully this will also stack with the Amex Offer for $50 back on a Saks purchase of $250. If so, here’s how I did. Three Ralph Lauren Polo shirts @ $95 each plus a pair of Paul Smith socks @ $21 (on sale) = $306. Used code for $50 off = $256. After 15% cash back from Rakuten = $217.60. $50 semi-annual Amex Platinum Saks credit takes it down to $167.60. $50 Amex Offer (which hopefully applies on the amount charged, disregarding the semi-annual credit) gets me to a final net of $117.60.

Just to follow up, all of the credits posted, so this was a phenomenal deal. More than 60% off!

Hi Nick, I know this is not a travel question but, nevertheless, it is an important one. My son has a heavy beard and his skin gets irritated often when he shaves. Does the shave oil that you use help with that?
