Quick Thoughts
This is a very nice deal if you’ll be staying at eligible SLH properties by the end of the year. Even if you’re staying using points or Hilton free night certificates, if you have room charges like meals, spa treatments, etc. charged to your room, that’ll trigger the statement credit too.
Although this Amex Offer isn’t valid on every single SLH property worldwide, there’s still a massive collection of participating hotels that you can find here.
Since the T&Cs say you have to book directly through SLH, how likely is it that a Hilton points booking will generate the credit?
A points booking itself won’t generate the credit as you wouldn’t be spending $300 initially. However, provided you have $300 of room charges during an award stay, that should work as the charge would be processed by the property.
Yes, I understand what you’re saying, but my point is that they specify a booking link and a requirement to book through SLH. I am wondering if they will credit any spend associated with a stay that wasn’t booked through that link. I have a stay booked at one of the listed properties for later this month, but I’ve booked it through a Virtuoso travel agency, not through SLH. I may just go ahead and use my Amex Platinum card that is registered for the promo to pay for the stay and see what happens. I would rather use my Chase Sapphire, though, so it will be disappointing if I don’t get the Amex credit.
I think the specific link requirement isn’t necessarily quite as strict as they make it sound seeing as they also mention that you can book over the phone too. I imagine that wording is there so that people don’t book an SLH property through a site like Expedia and prepay for their stay as the charge would come from Expedia.
Could be. I guess I will test it!
So shall I! I’m off to Rome next week booked in a SLH hotel. I will use my Amex (added the offer) and cross my fingers! 🙂
