Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) is a group of 520 independent, mid-size, boutique hotels that spans more than 90 countries. Overall they are generally well-regarded luxury properties. There is a new Amex Offer for stays at hotel within the SLH portfolio that gives $60 back for $300+ in spend, potentially a nice incentive to explore some lovely places.
The Deal
- Get $60 back on $300+ spend at SLH properties with a targeted Amex Offer
Terms and Conditions
- Offer valid at participating Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
- You must pay for your stay between June 8 and September 30, 2022.
- Reservations must be made directly online at slh.com or by phone 1-877-234-7033.
- Offer only valid on room rate and room charges.
- Offer not valid for lodging stays that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date.
Quick Thoughts
Although Small Luxury Hotels of the World bills itself as a “group”, it is effectively a marketing organization for a collection of independent hotels, representing 520 properties around the world. SLH doesn’t actually manage or own any properties and some of the hotels within the group are actually within other groups as well (like Hotel Palacio de Villapanes, where I recently stayed)
When I originally saw this offer, I was excited as Hyatt and SLH have a partnership with some very good benefits that include:
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Daily Complimentary Continental Breakfast
- Room Upgrade (one category at check-in if available)
- Early check-in (noon, based upon availability at check-in)
- Late check-out (2:00pm, based upon availability at check-in)
Unfortunately, in order to get the benefits and stay credit associated with the Hyatt partnership, it’s necessary to book through Hyatt, whereas the Amex offer is only valid when booking directly though SLH. I assume that these booking won’t be eligible for Hyatt benefits or stay credit. That said, it’s worth adding your Hyatt number to the reservation anyway, as some properties may choose to honor the Hyatt perks.
The Frequent Miler team has had some great stays at several SLH hotels over the past couple of years. Check out the reviews below:
- Hotel Palacio de Villapanes – Sevilla, Spain
- Wentworth Mansion – Charleston, South Carolina
- The Pillars – Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Schlosshotel Kronberg – Kronberg, Germany
- Chesterfield Hotel – Palm Beach, Florida
Additionally, if you pay at checkout in advance, will they really know if your stay is at a hotel in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe?
If you pay for charges with your Amex card at checkout, I wonder how AmEx would know whether you booked through Hyatt or SLH?
