Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Earlier today, One Mile at a Time reported on the fact that some Flyertalk members with Hyatt Globalist status have been reporting being targeted to receive American Airlines Executive Platinum status. That’s awesome for those targeted. However, if you haven’t yet received a phone call from Hyatt, it might be worth proactively reaching out to your Hyatt Concierge as we’ve received one report of a member being targeted this way.
A targeted offer, but reaching out may be worth an email
While the AA and Hyatt partnership has meant some opportunities for reciprocal earning and targeted status challenges, the new reports are from Hyatt Globalist members who have been contacted by Hyatt about being targeted to receive American Airlines Executive Platinum status. Those targeted reported receiving a phone call from Hyatt.
However, we received a report from a reader who proactively reached out to his concierge about American Airlines status and was successful in being targeted. Here’s what he reported:
I emailed my hyatt concierge asking about my globalist status meaning some type of status with American. An hour later she wrote back saying she needed to talk on the phone with me. She later called me and said she had “very good news” about it. Offered me AA Executive platinum status until Feb 2021.
Getting AA’s top-tier status through February 2021 with your Globalist status is a great deal. While I’m not much of an airline status chaser myself, I can certainly recognize the value in being able to choose preferred seats and have access to dedicated customer service in times of irregular operations. Executive Platinum status ordinarily requires 100,000 flown miles and $15,000 qualifying dollars, so getting that level of status for free is a pretty generous gift.
I highly doubt that this will be extended to everyone who asks for it, but it may be worth an email to see if being a squeaky wheel can get you some grease.

[…] It seems like 100 or 250 miles might be the most common gift received by members. Greg, his family members and my wife all received 100 miles, whereas I received 250 miles – presumably because I have Executive Platinum status received free thanks to having Hyatt Globalist status. […]
[…] trip to Europe this fall which we’d booked pre-COVID restrictions, plus they extended my Executive Platinum status received courtesy of Hyatt, so that should make travel a little more comfortable and would mean that credit doesn’t go […]
[…] for AA elites to fast track to Hyatt elite. Stephen Pepper, who has AA Executive Platinum status only because of his Hyatt status, received this email […]
Good for u I’m happy with the 5% bonus on the AA bus card if I reup .U can’t get everything for FREE !!!
CHEERs
I tried the reciprocal and then after I started Hyatt said they would not honor. This was a joke.
Who are these idiots that reach out to a blog to share information/unicorns?
