Southwest cardholder promo: Earn 25% bonus points when spending $3K+ (max 20K bonus points, targeted)

0

Southwest runs targeted spending offers for cardholders each quarter. The Q2 2026 spending offer is now open for registration and could be nicely rewarding for cardholders who’ll spend a lot on their card. It’s even better for those trying to earn a Companion Pass because the bonus points are Companion Pass-eligble.

The Deal

Key Terms

  • To be eligible for this bonus offer, you must register between 4/1/2026 12:01 a.m. ET and 6/30/2026 11:59 p.m. ET (“Promotion Period”).
  • Use your Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card to make at least $3000 in purchases during the Promotion Period to earn 25% in Rapid Rewards® bonus points on total spend on purchases made on your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card during the Promotion Period, up to 20,000 bonus points. For example, if you spend $3000 you will earn 750 bonus points.
  • So long as you register during the Promotion Period, purchases made during the Promotion Period will retroactively count toward the required spend.
  • The 25% bonus is in addition to the points you already earn with your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card.
  • The 25% bonus points will count toward Companion Pass® qualification but will not count toward A-List or A-List Preferred qualification.
  • Please allow up to eight weeks after the end of the Promotion Period for the bonus points to post to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
  • Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services; however, the following types of transactions won’t count as purchases: balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions including, but not limited to: traveler’s checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, other similar digital or virtual currency and other similar transactions; lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers, or similar offline and online betting transactions; person-to-person money transfers and account funding transactions that transfer currency, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.
  • Only the Rapid Rewards Member who received this offer from Southwest Airlines® is eligible for this promotion.
  • Bonus points will post directly to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account and will not appear on your credit card statement.
  • To qualify for this bonus offer, your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.

Quick Thoughts

This seems to be a quarter-point-per-dollar bonus rather than a 25% bonus. That’s because the example given in the terms states that spending $3,000 will get you 750 additional bonus points. However, if you spent any of that $3,000 in a bonused spend category, you’d get more than 750 bonus points. For example, if all $3,000 spend occurred in a 2X earning category, you’d earn 1,500 bonus points if it was a true 25% bonus.

Still, earning 0.25 points per dollar is a nice little bonus if you were going to be putting that spend on a Southwest card, particularly if you’ll be relying on credit card spend to earn enough Companion Pass-qualifying points to earn a Companion Pass before the end of the year.

These bonus points are also in addition to the bonus points you can earn if you were targeted for one of these separate Q2 spending offers.

As mentioned earlier, this is a targeted cardholder promotion. I think everyone can see the details of the offer when clicking through to the registration page, but you’ll only be able to register for it if you see a yellow ‘Register Now’ button. Make sure you’re logged in to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account while on that page, otherwise the registration button presumably won’t show up regardless of whether you’re targeted or not.
