Thrifty Traveler has found that there is currently very good (and well-priced) room availability at the St Regis Maldives through Summer/Fall of 2023 and even a bit in early 2024. The cheapest availability is from May-September. During this period, an Over Water Villa or a Garden View Villa can be had for as little as 88,000 Marriott points per night or by using an 85K free night certificate and topping up with an additional 3,000 points. If booked in a five night block, so as to take advantage of Marriott’s 5th-night free benefit, the nightly price goes down to ~70,000 pts/night.

It’s worth noting that roundtrip transportation to the resort from Male (the Maldive’s capital and tranport hub) will be around $800 per person… and this is NOT included in the points price.

Of course, this is smack dab in the middle of low season in the Maldives, due primarily to the monsoons that happen from June-September. That said, prices for overwater villas are still $2000+/night once taxes and service charges are included:

I’ve heard from many folks who’ve been to the Maldives during the “rainy season” and really enjoyed the slower pace and rainier weather. From the sounds of it, the rain typically only lasts for an hour or two with the occasional cloudy and drizzly day (it’s also quite humid). Regardless, it’s worth looking into what the weather is like during this time of year before booking, to make sure that it suits you.

The Deal

  • There is multi-night “saver-ish” standard room availability throughout mid-2023 and early-2024 at the St Regis Vommuli Maldives.
  • Villas are bookable for as low as 88,000 Marriott points/night or by using an 85K free night certificate like those earned annually with the American Express Bonvoy Brilliant and Chase Ritz Carlton credit cards.
  • Marriott members can get 5 award nights for the price of 4, reducing the price to just over 70,000 points/night.

Availability (as of writing)

Here are the cheapest months from the 2023 calendar (there is additional space priced at 94K-108K per night outside of this window). You can search the calendar by selecting “flexible dates” when searching online.

Quick Thoughts

I’ve never been to the St Regis specifically, but it’s considered by many to be one of the best resorts in the Maldives. It’s quite a bit smaller resort than the Conrad Maldives (which I have been to) and seems to have a sleeker, more relaxed feel.

Both of the standard room-types look great and it should be possible to split the stay by trying both of them. The garden villas are huge at 1600 sq feet and have beautiful private outdoor pools and showers. The sand is steps away. The overwater villas are smaller, but have decks with private plunge pools, direct ocean access and water views throughout. I imagine that either one would be a great place to while away a few lazy days.

Thx for this! Just booked 5 nights in mid-September in an overwater. As a titanium, should I expect free breakfast or any other elite perks?
