Hotels.com is offering a $10 bonus eGift Card when you buy a $50 Gift card (physical or electronic). You can further stack that with an Amex Offer for $10 back on a $50 Hotels.com gift card purchase. While the terms of the bonus gift card deal state that the $10 bonus eGift card can not be combined with another Hotels.com card, a reader reports that he was able to successfully combine his bonus $10 eGift card with an existing card. YMMV, but that would make this a nice way to save 33.3% on $60 in gift cards.

Quick Thoughts
This can come together to create a nice discount. The Hotels.com Amex offer is targeted, but I’ve seen it on at least one of my accounts and my wife’s (See: Hotels.com Amex Offer: Buy $50+ Gift Card & Get $10 Back (Targeted)). You would then pay a net $40 for the $50 Hotels.com Gift card and $10 bonus card.
The terms state that the $10 bonus card can not be combined with the $50 card from this purchase nor with any other Hotels.com gift card, but a reader reached out to say that he was able to combine the $10 bonus code with a card he already had. YMMV since the terms pretty explicitly say it can’t be done, but we all know that reality doesn’t always match the terms. You can combine Hotels.com gift cards at this link (click “balance transfer”). Note that the way this was relayed, I interpreted it to mean that he combined the $10 with an existing card he had on hand rather than the $50 card purchased from this deal (I would then assume he likely combined this $50 GC with that same larger card, as one does).
While shopping portals generally exclude the purchase of gift cards, it’s always worth clicking through one in the off chance that you can score a payout in addition to the deal here.
Interestingly, the reader who shared this told me that the Hotels.com Amex offer only showed up for him on the Amex app, not on the website. While it’s not uncommon for this to happen with some offers, my experience has been that those offers are usually local (See: Reminder: Check “nearby” Amex Offers (you might find a pleasant surprise)). It was interesting to see that an offer for Hotels.com showed up this way.
Also notable: if you don’t have the Hotels.com Amex Offer, I believe you can still get $65 in gift cards for $50 at some Walmart stores. See this post for more on that deal: Walmart In-Store: Buy $50 Hotels.com Gift Card, Get $15 Bonus Code. However, if you can get the deal in this post to work, it represents a better discount.

FYI, Giving Assistant claims it will give 1% on GC purchases.
My experience: bought a GC, got the $50 and the $10 emails almost immediately. I first merged the $10 to my existing $150 balance (from the Newegg deal a couple days ago). Then merged the $50 to my now-$160 balance. Final tally, all on one card at $210. Now just need to hope the Amex offer tracks.
An awful lot of work to save $10.

Recently I’ve had a ton of problems purchasing Hotels.com gift cards from their site. They cancel the purchase immediately after I execute, every time. They must dislike my VPN (U.S.), or my browser’s security/privacy features. I’m not going to try anymore.
They stopped me @ ONE (u got it before) and I have a VPN too and it worked .Lots of websites like Citi and others u have to turn off ..
I just got alert from Chase 4 GC not worth the Hassle for $10..
