Just an FYI – I recently had 2 visa gift cards from Staples comprimised. I was on a trip in Utah and this seems to be when things happened.
I contacted the number on the back and eventually got put in contact with BHN Network. They are asking for some interesting information. Has anyone had luck getting money back or have people been scammed and if so, why does the number on the back of the card take us to a scam situation. Any help is much appreciated.
Here is the email I received. Definitely find it weird that they are asking for a photo of driver’s license. Can anyone help?

My order was canceled because they “require additional information.” They did not share what that was. No additional information was needed for them to begin spamming me.
This was the first time I tried ordering gift cards from Staples online. You have to create an account to purchase. Gift card delivery is not instant but promised within 24 hours
I’ve been buying these this week and using them immediately to pay some property tax bills. My Chase ink pending points show 5x on them. If you buy them too frequently, you will get shut down by Staples so I’ve been keeping them to just a couple orders per day.
What’s the velocity you can buy these? 5 per day? P2 and I each have a CIC card. I already have a staples.com account and P2 can create one.

Can someone explain why this is a good deal? So it looks like from this I can by a $200 digital card for $200 and I don’t have to pay the $7+ purchase fee. Um ok but $200 for $200 isn’t anything special?
5 x points with chase cash. You can then pay utility bills or car insurance, etc… that you might normally pay with a checking account with the gift cards. This is easy “money” and no trip to the store which is a time saver.

@Stephen it might help to include that detail in this (and in these posts in general), for those of us who are still new to the site?
What happens if your Utility Bill or Car Insurance bill is more than the amount of the card? I would love to buy these, but don’t know how to combine them into one big amount to pay bills that are over the $200 card threshold. If anyone can share some of their knowledge with me on how to do that, it would be much appreciated.
Can’t speak for others, but the payment processor for my utility company allows me to set how much I want to pay, and it can be less than the total of the bill.
Second option would be to load the GC to your utility account as a credit balance before your bill posts.
I’m currently sitting on a $195 credit balance with my utility provider.

I do the same as Craig. Prepay certain bills especially ones that don’t charge a debit fee. I pre-paid 6 months of vehicle insurance ($2000) with gift cards over time. I did the same with Medicare.
Does anyone know if this would code as office supply on Amex or as a third party gift card issuer like Blackhawk etc?
Amex will shut you down as they have detailed knowledge of bills unlike banks that rely on a 3rd party to process like Visa or MC – RAT team
It should code as office supply as payment is processed by Staples rather than Blackhawk Network. However, from what I can remember of Amex’s card that earned 5% at office supply stores, there were sometimes issues with 5% being credited when people bought gift cards.
Unlike ffi’s comment, I wouldn’t be at all worried about shutdowns though for buying some digital Visa gift cards.
can these be added to apple/android pay wallet ?
I have been unable to find a merchant that accepts a $25 version of this virtual gift card (which I have activated and checked the balance of online).
Does anyone have suggestions as to where it can be used online?
Have you tried Amazon? Also, when adding it as a payment method the retailer might do a temporary $1 hold to check that it’s valid. That might prevent you from using the card straight away as it no longer looks like it has the full $25 available. If you do add it to Amazon, give it a day or two and then try using it and you’ll hopefully have more luck.
If you have utility bills, try that.
