UPS has a program called UPS My Choice Deals. It offers “deals” for many different retailers and services, although it’s often possible to get the same – or better – offers elsewhere.
There are a few exceptions where UPS My Choice Deals are notable though, with two of them being for Costco memberships and existing Uber Eats customers. It’s free to join and you have to be logged in to see these offers, but here’s a quick summary of why these are worth paying attention to.
Costco Membership
UPS My Choice Deals has an offer giving a $30 Costco Shop card when taking out a new Costco membership. That’s a great offer because unlike Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco doesn’t regularly offer incentives for joining other than through this promotion and the occasional Groupon offer. A Costco Gold Star membership costs $60, so getting 50% back is a great reward.
I took advantage of this offer a year ago and received the $30 Costco Shop card (effectively a Costco gift card) without any problems. Even better is the fact that you can stack this with at least one other deal.
Dosh offers $10 for Gold Star memberships or $20 for Gold Star Executive memberships. When taking out my membership last year, I received $10 cashback from Dosh in addition to the $30 Costco Shop card, so unless things have changed then it’s still possible to stack the two.
At the time there was a United Visa Rewards offer in the MPX app giving 12x miles per dollar spent on Costco memberships when paying with my Chase United card. That offer tracked too, but because I redeemed that offer I’m not sure if it’s still available as it’s now disappeared from the app for me as it’s a one-time offer. If that’s still available, it means you’ll earn 780 bonus MileagePlus miles provided you link that offer and pay with your United card.
Uber Eats – Existing Customers
A less rewarding deal, but one which might still be of interest, is what UPS My Choice Deals offers for Uber Eats orders. The headline rate of $4 cashback isn’t at all interesting seeing as Dosh offers 32% cashback on your first Uber Eats order, so you’d have to spend less than $12.50 on your first order to make the UPS offer worth more.
Where it gets a little more interesting is the fact that they offer $2 per order for existing customers. $2 isn’t huge, but depending on your order value it might be your best option. For example, Dosh offers 5.5% cashback for existing users which is a good rate. However, you’d have to spend more than $36 to make the Dosh offer better than the $2 flat rate. If you have an Uber Eats Pass and tend to place cheap orders for pickup, $2 could represent a 20% reward.
Question
Are there any other deals available from UPS My Choice Deals that are worth highlighting? Let us know in the comments below.
I used the UPS MyChoice offer for the Costco membership a couple of weeks ago. Do you think the $30 Costo card will show up automatically or would I need to contact UPS MyChoice. Thanks!
It arrived in the mail for me a few weeks after activating the membership in-store.
Thanks!
Nope – the card arrived in the mail a few weeks later from what I can remember.
UPS My Choice Deals is shutting down in less than two weeks, and it sounds like you won’t even be able to withdraw your cash back on the website after that.
“UPS My Choice Deals website will be discontinued as of May 31, 2021.
If you have a Cash Back balance totaling $10.00 or more, please email us at customercare@benefithub.com or call us at
1-866-664-4621 to determine how to redeem it. We will be addressing Cash Back claims until December 15, 2021.
Thank you for being a loyal UPS My Choice member.”
Thanks for the heads up about that.
Hi Stephen,
So I went through the steps and bought a membership. Looks like it’s a certificate you’d need to take to a Costco to get the actual membership card.
I did click ‘shop’ on Dosh and used a connected card to purchase, but I completed the purchase on a different browser than what Dosh opened up when I clicked ’shop’. Currently not seeing any pending cash back on Dosh. Did I screw this up then? 🙁
I think Dosh tracked automatically for me before. Had you linked your card in the Dosh app less than 24 hours before making the purchase? I’ve seen some data points in the past suggesting recently linked cards don’t track immediately, so perhaps that’s what happened.
No, my card was linked weeks ago. I’ll wait and see. I could reach out to their support team of if I don’t see anything
