thanks for the link to the United $75 close-in fee workaround….. News I wish I’d remembered last week, while stuck on the west coast (sfo & oak), trying to fly family standby on Delta….. what a nightmare. (When the Delta systems went down….. down….. down…… took me over 48 hours to realize how bad things were — and that we weren’t likely to get a family pass standby booking — tried repeatedly, and each time, in last hour (while we were at the airport) either the flight would get cancelled (grrrr…..) or hordes of regular travelers would get moved from their cancelled/over-booked flights into the remaining seats on other flights….. (bottom line, standby impossible in such multi-day nightmares) Eventually made it back east courtesy southwest….. but would have been so much easier early on to just fork over the miles for a United flight from SFO…. Will remember this for “next time.”
The last two links are the same. Otherwise, great round-up!
